TRY: England 10-12 New Zealandpublished at 39 mins

    Elliott Whitehead

I didn't see this coming - England are only two points behind now!

Elliott Whitehead times his run perfectly to latch onto Jake Connor's pass to score.

You'd expect Gareth Widdop to stick the kick over, but it's flown wide, so England miss the chance to level just before half-time.

New Zealand are making England work. You are not only having to work physically, but mentally as well.

Wow - what a 40-20 kick from New Zealand's Issac Luke which puts huge pressure on England's defence. The thinner air a mile above sea level certainly helped that one travel!

A bit of a tete-a-tete involving Sam Burgess causes a break in play, after which New Zealand can't make the most of their remaining tackles. Some enterprising handling, but England stand firm.

Jason: Brilliant from Ryan Hall. So much skill to score that try.

That was a fantastic set. He is a very big man and for such a big man he has great agility. That is the best set England have had.

There is a question mark if he dropped the ball, but we will give it to him.

  6. try

TRY: England 6-12 New Zealandpublished at 33 mins

    Ryan Hall, goal Gareth Widdop

    A lifeline for England!

Ryan Hall with an excellent, acrobatic finish in the corner, and the Leeds Rhinos man has his 35th international try in 38 caps.

Credit too to Jake Connor, whose pass it was to set Hall diving over on the left touchline.

TV replays show Hall may have dropped the ball in grounding it, so England are perhaps a tad fortunate to be on the board.

The video referee is called upon again to give a judgement on a possible New Zealand score, but Leeson Ah Mau clearly hasn't got anywhere near the try line.

George Horner: Can't believe we're letting the Kiwis through our defence.

Tim Galsworthy: As always, international matches demonstrate very clearly that England are nowhere near the level of New Zealand and Australia.

Good try for New Zealand and they will be absolutely delighted with their first half hour.

Worrying times for the fellas in white.

  10. try

TRY: England 0-12 New Zealandpublished at 28 mins

    Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, goal Jamayne Isaako

    Dallin Watene-Zelezniak

It's far too easy for New Zealand to extend their lead.

A neat offload, a good sidestep by Issac Luke and suddenly Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has an easy run to the line.

    The Kiwis are in control.

And now New Zealand attack, but butcher the chance to score a second try.

Esan Marsters breaks the line yet again and fires a pass to winger Jamayne Isaako, who can't catch the ball with the try line at his mercy.

An escape for Wayne Bennett's men.

I think it has just been ruled that Tom Burgess lost control and that is relief for New Zealand.

England are denied by the video referee!

Mark Percival went up for an aerial challenge with Jamayne Isaako near the Kiwi line and the ball was lost forward by the New Zealand man, giving England the scrum 10 metres out.

Tom Burgess receives it and there appeared to be no stopping the big man from close range. Referee Ben Thaler gave the on-field signal of "try", but the television pictures show he may have lost control of the ball before grounding it over the line.

SaintsWigan: Very poor England. New Zealand look slick with some of their handling and busting breaks but England need get back to basics. Handling poor from England.

    A bit better from England.

Jake Connor's first carry makes good metres and Sam Burgess surges over the Kiwi line, but he's held up.

The final couple of tackles come to little and New Zealand have the ball back.

Both teams are making line breaks, but it is a matter of finishing your half-chances. Unfortunately for England, New Zealand have finished their one.
