It's a scorcher of a day here in Bolton and the fans are in fine voice at the newly-renamed University of Bolton Stadium.

However, it's taken me the best part of two hours to get here from Salford and the traffic on the way here probably goes some way to explaining the large sections of empty seats in the stadium. It was packed with people outside as I walked in a few moments ago.

Josh Drinkwater makes no mistake, splitting the uprights to put the French side two points up.

Sam Moa is interfered with as he attempts to play the ball just in front of the Saints' posts.

Catalans will attempt a routine kick for two points.

    St Helens 0-0 Catalans Dragons

Tony Gigot's poor kick gives Saints good starting position, but Tommy Makinson is pushed into touch after a good break up the middle got the Super League leaders deep inside Catalans territory.

Catalans respond with a dangerous attack of their own, but Saints hold firm.

    Good start this.

Ryan Segal: Rhinos fan, but Ben Barba's form and the boot of Danny Richardson means it's impossible to see any other winners.

Matthew Jolley: Come on Catalans - break the monotony that is 2018 St Helens!

Kyle: Catalans have been really good of late. They have improved a lot and Drinkwater and Edwards have both improved them a lot, however I cannot see them beating Saints. They will give them a game but I fancy Saints to win by 14 in the end.

Greg Bird is a big loss for us, he's been a great talisman and we are all disappointed for him but all the intent is on us to make sure we get through to the final and hopefully give him a chance to play in that.

    St Helens 0-0 Catalans Dragons

Catalans make decent ground with their first set of six and pin St Helens back deep with the kick.

Saints respond nicely though, forcing Dragons to start their second set from about 10 metres in front of their own line.

Today's semi-final is a repeat of the 2007 Challenge Cup final, which St Helens won 30-8. It was the first to be played at the redeveloped Wembley.

Catalans, coached by ex-England boss Steve McNamara, looked set for another season of struggles but an upturn in form - inspired by some welcome mid-season arrivals - saw them comfortably finish in the top eight.

Saints will be strong favourites to make it back to Wembley on 25 August, but the Dragons will be tough opponents to get past.

It's 10 years since St Helens appeared in a Challenge Cup final - far too long for a club of their stature.

Saints have been the standout team in Super League this season - the Super 8s haven't even started yet, but Justin Holbrook's side have already secured a top-four finish and five more points will see them wrap up the League Leaders' Shield.

Key to their success has been Australian full-back Ben Barba, who scored a hat-trick of tries in Saints' last-16 win at Castleford.
