Suddenly Salford have come alive as they earn a set of six deep in St Helens territory.

What can they make of this?

Out of nothing Tui Lolohea dances through the St Helens defence, beating defenders and beating them again, to go over.

But it won't count as Logan Tomkins is penalised for obstruction, preventing a tackler from getting to the Salford half-back.

Salford only conceded four points in their previous two games but you wonder just what those wins over Castleford and Wigan took out of them.

Saints seem to be benefiting from their week off.

The worry now is that the try could settle Saints and they could get into their groove - before that they were misfiring a little bit.

All is not lost at 6-0 though and Salford have got to stay in the game and cling on for as long as they can.

St Helens come again as Regan Grace skips through before he is unconventionally brought down by Jackson Hastings.

Once again they go close to the line but can't crash over the whitewash. The pressure is relentless.

St Helens props Alex Walmsley and Luke Thompson have been as subtle as sledgehammers in the opening 20 minutes.

When they carry the ball, you can hear the thud from 60 metres away when they run into Salford bodies.

In big games you've got to build pressure onto the opposition and be patient and St Helens have certainly been that, it's been all them.

Morgan Knowles will remember that try for a long time scoring at Old Trafford - brilliant try and very well deserved for Saints.

St Helens win themselves another set of six within 10m of the Salford line as the ball touches a black-shirted hand.

They hammer at the Red Devils defence but can't break through and run out of tackles.

Salford have given Saints a lot of territory but at some stage Saints will need to be a bit more clinical or frustration will begin to come to the front of their mind.

Every time Salford get the ball they do so deep in their own half.

It's taking them until the fourth or fifth tackle to get close to halfway. It means the ball keeps coming back at them.

A chance goes begging for St Helens as an ambitious offload from Lachlan Coote goes out of play.

Salford march the ball upfield but Saints have been solid under the high ball so far as the Red Devils try to pin them back.

Much of the game so far has been played in Salford's half and it's got to be helping the Red Devils that they're defending the end where their supporters are stationed.

St Helens have got to get past 13 men in black and about 8,000 noisy Salford fans at that end if they're going to score a try.

A first milestone reached for Salford as they complete the first 10 minutes without conceding.

But they're yet to pose a threat with ball in hand, while Saints have dominated possession and territory.

St Helens' defence is pretty ferocious too as Salford struggle to make metres.

They do get into Saints territory but when Jackson Hastings kicks high into the night sky, St Helens wing Tommy Makinson is solid underneath it.
