There'll have been a few bruised Samoan egos after the tournament's opening game but they are really giving it to England here early doors.

Captain Junior Paulo is clearly pumped and it'll be interesting to see if they can maintain their discipline.

Actually Samoa knocked-on in the chaos and England get the ball back. Then Junior Paulo drops Tom Burgess onto his head and England are gifted a penalty.

A chance to kick for two?

Nothing is working for the hosts. They scramble some quick passes but George Williams is then cornered and dragged over the sideline.

Samoa are winning every battle so far. But we've still got a long way to go.

It's Tim Lafai and Kallum Watkins, Salford team-mates. They're moving the ball to the left much more than in the first game against England.

The ball just gives him a bit of space and that's all he needs. When they've had a chance they've made England pay.

This was never going to be an easy England win was it?

A stunned silence (largely) greeted that Samoa try from Tim Lafai.

I can't remember England trailing at any other stage in the tournament, so a first real test of their resolve here.

Samoa have found the edge...

England's set ends with a spiralling kick which puts young full-back Joseph Suaali'i under pressure but he does so well to gather.

And in the next play Samoa are gifted a set restart to help them march down field.

I think it's crucial at the start.

Samoa have given England a leg up but if England can continue as they've gone on in this competition there should be some pressure on Samoa.

Samoa's first set gets some good yards but ends with Anthony Milford kicking the ball out of play.

That'll do nicely for England.

So nearly as Jack Welsby almost sends George Williams through with a grubber.

And then Tommy Makinson gets under a high kick to the corner but a scramble defence just about deals with the danger.

England look pumped.

And the kick goes out of play. England will start in great field position.
