  3. Widnes not planning Super League bidpublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2020

    HT: Wigan 13-2 Hull FC

As you may be aware, clubs below Super League have been bidding to take the place of Toronto Wolfpack for next season.

But one team who have ruled themselves out are Widnes Vikings, who've had a turbulent time in the past two years since their relegation having gone into administration in 2019.

"Whilst as a club we've got aspirations to be a Super League club, the stage of development where we're at as a club means it isn't the right time," CEO Phil Finney told BBC Radio Merseyside's Try Time.

"We're a historic and successful club of 125 years, but we're only 20 months old as a business."

Right on the hooter, Harry Smith kicks a cheeky drop goal to further extend Wigan's lead.

In the aftermath, Ligi Sao and Willie Isa seem to become embroiled in a row as they're walking from the field.

A tempestuous end to a tense half.

    Wigan 12-2 Hull FC

It's fair to say it was quite a nervy start for Wigan in this game but they've well and truly grown into it as time's ticked down to half-time.

Marc Sneyd ought to get his kicking boots on - Hull are only 10 drop-goals off their opponents..

  7. try

TRY: Wigan 12-2 Hull FCpublished at 33 mins

    Harry Smith, goal Zak Hardaker

Wigan are in again and suddenly they've turned the game well and truly in their favour!

Harry Smith does the damage to extend Wigan's lead following some quick work from Jackson Hastings in the build up.

    Zak Hardaker adds the two.

    Wigan 6-2 Hull FC

Wigan are doing a fine job of keeping Hull pegged back here just after the restart.

The visitors are stuck in their own half for an entire set of six and Jake Connor attempts a wild 40-20 attempt from deep upfield.

  9. try

TRY: Wigan 6-2 Hull FCpublished at 27 mins

    Joe Burgess, goal Zak Hardaker

I mean technically Joe Burgess has scored for Wigan here but they might as well thank Josh Griffin's ridiculous antics just before that allowed the Cherry and Whites a pathway upfield.

Moments after Zak Hardaker almost chases his own kick to touch down, Burgess runs in at the corner for the hosts.

Hardaker adds the two to further punish their opponents.

  10. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Wigan 0-2 Hull FC

Ooh er. A bit of afters now as Oliver Partington reacts to Ligi Sao putting in a huge tackle on Willie Isa.

Josh Griffin, whilst celebrating the challenge, sarcastically pats Partington on the head which caused the kerfuffle that followed.

Griffin then concedes a penalty to Wigan. Pointless and kills all of Hull's momentum.

  11. NO TRYpublished at 24 mins

    Wigan 0-2 Hull FC

Dear oh dear. Hull are denied a try. Bevan French spills the ball inside Wigan's 10 and not long after Hull manage to score what they believe to be the first try of the game through Bureta Faraimo.

However it's chalked off after going upstairs when it's judged that Zak Hardaker was pushed in the build up.

Hull win possession on the restart by virtue of French's knock-on, but Wigan swiftly regain the ball.

  12. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Wigan 0-2 Hull FC

Oliver Partington is held up by Hull just moments after Joe Burgess' drive to the try line.

Bevan French then frantically sends a kick in on Wigan's fifth tackle but Ratu Naulago wins it back for Hull.

    Wigan turning the screw, here.

  13. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Wigan 0-2 Hull FC

Amazing defence from Hull FC here to deny Joe Burgess a certain try and response from Wigan.

The hosts burst upfield and Burgess by all accounts should be home and try but he's held up right at the death.

    Cracking work.

  14. PENALTY: Wigan 0-2 Hull FCpublished at 12 mins

    Marc Sneyd

Marc Sneyd was useful with the boot against Warrington last week and he's got Hull off the mark tonight.

The visitors lead and it's taken 12 minutes.

  15. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Wigan 0-0 Hull FC

Well it's as edgy as you can get right now to be honest folks.

Neither side are off the mark having well and truly sized each other up in the opening 10 minutes.

You get the feeling the first score in this match could be significant.

    Wigan 0-0 Hull FC

At the other end, Scott Taylor comes within inches of getting Hull over the line on their first tackle.

He's held up but Hull work it out wide and send a speculative grubber kick in towards the corner but it sails out before they can make an effort to ground it.

    Better stuff from the visitors.

  17. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Wigan 0-0 Hull FC

Believe it or not, Wigan haven't played at home for eight months! What a year this has been.

Wigan have the first charge upfield with Jackson Hastings well in amongst the action for the hosts with last season's Man of Steel coming into this game off the back of signing a new contract last week.
