England did not know much about France, they were reviewing videos from 2018, there is a sense of keep building, we have to test ourselves, they are focusing in on themselves and on every detail.
Two victories for England today, with the first a comprehensive 40-4 win for the women's team in Perpignan. Here's how they did it...

It is managing expectations, it has been the hardest point in people's lives and it has affected everyone not just rugby league, we are making the best of what we have got - ultimately it served a good purpose and I think they will take a lot out of it.
Jon Wilkin
Former England international on BBC One
It comes with depth of the squad - this England team was experimental at the heart of it, people getting their first caps. Morgan Knowles, Alex Walmsley, Mike Cooper, do you keep them all on at the same time?
England captain John Bateman: "It is a tough place to come, second half we didn't feel like it got going properly, the referee probably gave a little more to them.
"It was great for building character and tough moments that we have to come through. Fingers crossed the boys fit in well and we move forward to next year.
"Games like that are fantastic for us, plenty of bodies to come back so we have to have a good year next year and hopefully everybody is fit."

What we saw was maybe a new, more resilient attitude to France. France will be focused on that game against England next year, that will be really exciting come World Cup time.
France 10-30 England
France coach Laurent Frayssinous on BBC One: "That is what we shared at half-time, our first 20 minutes was pretty poor. Second half it was 10-10, so some good stuff that the players done and we need to learn a few harsh lessons, especially in the first 20 minutes, what we can and cannot do at the highest international level.
"I am confident in 12 months' time we will be a better team. We will be competitive, we will play England again, Samoa, Greece. We definitely will be a better team but I am proud of the young kids who made their debut today, eight of them, they can be proud of themselves."

England finished well and just needed a bit more cohesion earlier on. It is a test and they will take a lot from that game.

When you are 20-0 up you want to come out and nail 10 minutes, be ruthless for 10 minutes, but they did the opposite of that and started in such a poor way.
France 10-30 England
England coach Shaun Wane on BBC One: "The lads have done really well, it was a tough day's travel, three sessions on the field as a team.
"We did some good stuff, there are lots of lessons but we did some good things and I was happy with the performance.
"The first 20 minutes we made no errors, the more we get through our sets and get in really good shape we will trouble them, but I understand, we have not been together that long and it will get better.
"If somebody gave me this scoreline on the plane on the way over this morning, I would be happy with that. I just wish it could have been a faster game."

It's going to be a tough review, the execution and skill started really well, but my question was have they got the discipline to persevere with ruthlessness? No, they failed to score some easy tries. We won the game because we have better players.
France 10-30 England
And that's it!
England get the victory but they were made to work hard for it.
France 10-30 England
A bit of pushing and shoving to finish off here, just how we started. A few disgruntled looks but I'm sure they'll all be shaking hands in a couple of minutes' time.
Jamie Peacock
Former England captain on BBC One
England know they have not played the way Shaun Wane would have wanted in the last 60 minutes.
It's a good end to a bad half.
John Bateman, con Jordan Abdull (77 mins)
A try frenzy to finish in Perpignan!
England hit straight back to extinguish and brief hopes France had and it's John Bateman on the end of the move to finish off for the visitors.
Jordan Abdull tags on the extras.
Justin Sangare (75 mins)
France aren't done just yet!
It's a debut try for Justin Sangare, who finishes off a spell of French pressure with a bulldozing finish from close range.
Jonathan Davies
Former Great Britain international on BBC One
That settles it. The game is over now. One of the French players loses his head, rushes in and gets stuck out of position.
Tommy Makinson (73 mins)
That should do it for England!
Niall Evalds looks to stretch his legs but Liam Farrell then has the ball pinched from his finger tips. England move it right instead, opening up the field, and then flick it back through hands to the left.
Despite being a man down, the visitors find numbers outside and Tommy Makinson can walk in England's fifth try to wrap up this victory.
Jordan Abdull strikes the post with the conversion.
France 4-20 England
England are holding out and a penalty gives the visitors a breather. France have the man advantage and need to make it count with nine minutes to go.
