    Jamie Peacock
Former England captain on BBC One

That's why Tommy Makinson is world class. It's not just about scoring tries but stopping them as well.

England will want to be ruthless and keep France to zero.

    France 0-20 England

France think they have a try, but there's a foot in touch in the build-up from Morgan Escare and England are let off.

There's great interplay from four, five, six players. They all want the ball and all sense a chance to score a try.

CONVERTED TRY - France 0-20 Englandpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

John Bateman, con Jordan Abdull (18 mins)

    All too easy for England!

It's a lovely score, superb hands, but France are letting the visitors throw the ball around like the Harlem Globetrotters.

The ball passes through several pairs of palms before John Bateman hits a great line and gallops clear to touch down between the sticks.

Former England captain on BBC One

It was a well-executed try by England but the French defence is not pressurising them and it was too easy.

This is a cake-walk for England. They are ripping France apart.

  7. try

TRY - France 0-14 Englandpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    Tommy Makinson (14 mins)

France just cannot deal with England at the moment!

It's lovely hands from Jonny Lomax, slipping past his marker and teeing up Tommy Makinson for a simple finish in the corner. But it's all too easy for Shaun Wane's side.

England had numbers there ready to walk the ball over.

  8. Postpublished at 13 mins

    France 0-10 England

Quick hands from England as they drift left this time, but France's scrambling defence keeps them at bay for the moment.

  9. 'Stunning skill'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    France 0-10 England

    Jamie Peacock
Former England captain on BBC One

It's stunning to be able to execute that skill at the speed he is running at. That's the sort of finish you'll need against the top sides.

  10. 'Fantastic finish'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    France 0-10 England

    Jonathan Davies
Former Great Britain international on BBC One

Watch how he transfers the ball into his left hand, one handed, because he realises his right shoulder won't get there. It's a fantastic finish - balance, poise and clinical.

  11. try

TRY - France 0-10 Englandpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    Tom Davies (10 mins)

    What a finish that is!

Wow. Tom Davies, take a bow. The Catalans winger goes full on Superman to dive into the corner at top speed and touch down with one hand. Superb.

Jordan Abdull sizes up the kick from right on the chalk, but drags it just wide of the near post.

  12. Postpublished at 9 mins

    France 0-6 England

Mike Cooper thuds into a French tackler before England go left and Jordan Abdull hoists a huge kick high into the Perpignan sky. France can't deal with it, as Mark Kheirallah loses the flight of the ball and England should score! They have numbers left but waste the opportunity.

  13. 'Feeble tackle'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    France 0-6 England

    Jonathan Davies
Former Great Britain international on BBC One

France switched off their marker and it was a simple run-in for Farrell. It was a feeble tackle. That was all down to the mistakes and ill-discipline from the French. They haven't got out of their own half yet.

  14. converted try

CONVERTED TRY - France 0-6 Englandpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

Liam Farrell, con Jordan Abdull (4 mins)

    This one definitely counts!

France are all over the shop at the minute and England squeeze in on the left with Liam Farrell, with the Wigan Warriors man just rolling the tackle to touch down from close range.

Great kick from wide out from Jordan Abdull to add the extras.

  15. NO TRYpublished at 3 mins

    France 0-0 England

No try for the England skipper, the ball was deemed to be grounded by a blue hand - would've been the easiest score John Bateman ever had.

  16. TRY REVIEWpublished at 3 mins

    France 0-0 England

England think they've scored. France made a right mess of the kick and it bobbled around before John Bateman touched it down, or was there a French hand there first?

  17. Postpublished at 2 mins

    France 0-0 England

    Bosh!

That's a high tackle on Morgan Knowles and his England team-mates are in quickly to square up to their French counterparts. Setting the tone.

  18. Postpublished at 1 mins

    France 0-0 England

France allow the kick-off to bounce and put themselves immediately under pressure in Perpignan.

    Few nerves out there?
