Former Saints full-back and BBC Radio Northampton summariser Ian Hunter: "Eleven points is a lot. Saints really need to pick themselves up. They have looked really dangerous. But Saints have been guilty of missing first-up tackles and Tigers have got in behind them."

Well I thought Leicester boss Cockerill looked excited after the last one, but now he really is jumping for joy. Good line-out, good maul again and scrum-half Ben Youngs darts around the side to snipe over from close range. Flood converts, and Tigers are roaring. Don't forget, they're still a man short.

  3. Postpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

They may be a man light but Tigers are managing this brilliantly. They win a penalty at the scrum, kick for touch and then their rolling maul is looking more than a bit sturdy. Another penalty - and Flood to touch once more.

Small Man Peaky:, external This is ridiculous. Such a fast-running game under such pressure. Don't tell me the Aviva Prem isn't as good as the Super15.

James Tonkinson:, external Love the respect shown by the crowd for both kickers at Franklin's Gardens. Silence for Myler and Flood! Respect.

  5. PENALTY - Mylerpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

You know I was mentioning his excellent points-scoring record this season earlier? Well this one is easy meat for Myler, who cuts the deficit to four with that penalty.

  6. SIN BIN - Gonevapublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

This match is fast and furious and, after bagging the first try of the semi-final, Leicester are now down to 14 men. Niki Goneva, having made a fine recovery tackle, then offends at the breakdown that follows and it's a chance for Stephen Myler again...

  7. Postpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

BBC Sport's Chris Osborne at Franklin's Gardens: "Needless to say, Richard Cockerill enjoyed that try. He's gone a particular shade of purple."

  8. CONVERTED TRY - Tuilagi (con Flood)published at 20:11 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

Brilliant from Mathew Tait. The full-back makes good progress and takes the visitors to within a couple of metres of the try line. They've got numbers out right and they work the ball smartly, and it's Manu Tuilagi who eventually has the relatively simple task of strolling over. Richard Cockerill is up off his seat punching the air - he knows that could be a crucial score.

  9. Postpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

BBC Sport's Chris Osborne at Franklin's Gardens: "There may be only six points on the board, but this is brewing into a classic. The crowd are really up for it and so are the players. Richard Cockerill is four seats away from me - needless to say he has been loud and shouty so far."

  10. PENALTY - Mylerpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

And, deservedly you have to say, Northampton are finally back on terms. Good awareness from Kahn Fotuali'i leads Leicester giving away another penalty in front of the posts and Stephen Myler makes no mistake. Myler is not the league's second-highest points scorer this season for no reason, you know.

  11. Postpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

Here come Northampton again. A first look at Saints and England centre Luther Burrell, who breaks the first tackle but no more. However, they do win the penalty down in the corner but, having put the ball into touch and worked the ball to Burrell again, they give away a penalty just five metres from the whitewash and there's relief for Leicester.

"That's a big decision and a brave call from the referee because, if the try had been given, I don't think there would have been too many Leicester players complaining."

  13. DISALLOWED TRYpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

And now Phil Dowson goes over! But no - that won't count. The referee rules it out because Northampton were adjudged to have been illegally interfering with the visitors' line-out. Unlucky for Saints, but the visitors stay ahead. For now.

  14. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

Almost the perfect response from Northampton. Saints move the ball from right to left and, just as Kahn Fotuali'i looks certain to score, Mathew Tait produces a fine last-ditch tackle to force him into touch.

  15. PENALTY - Floodpublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

A first opportunity to get on the scoreboard goes Leicester's way. A penalty given away at the breakdown gives Toby Flood a relatively simple chance, and he splits the posts. First blood to Tigers.

  16. Postpublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

Now we'll see how the visitors' line-out is shaping up. A high tackle by Phil Dowson gives Leicester a chance to put the ball out and, at the second attempt, hooker Tom Youngs seems to have his eye in. Tigers are pressing.

  17. Postpublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

Leicester have started brightly, but Saints win a penalty at the breakdown and, having put the ball into touch again, their line-out is looking in good working order early doors.

  18. Get Involvedpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

Andrew Priestley:, external Leicester Tigers' recent domestic record is incredible and I can see them upsetting Northampton to reach Twickenham again.

Ed Hooley:, external Saints v Tigers tonight. War expected.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 16 May 2014

Right then, enough of the talking, let's get this show on the road. Referee JP Doyle puffs his whistle, Toby Flood kicks long, and Kahn Fotuali'i puts the ball into touch.

    Chris Jones
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

"You feel Northampton should put this run against Leicester to bed, considering the improvements they've made this season and that they are the better side.

"They look back to near their best now and it's about time they stepped up and got the job done."
