And so the curtain comes down on another club rugby season and it is Leinster who are the ones taking the applause - a fitting conclusion perhaps as one of Ireland's finest sportsmen, Brian O'Driscoll, takes his final bow as a player. Glasgow failed to become the first Scottish side to win the Pro12 title. Instead, it was Leinster who became the first to retain it. Thanks for your company for a thrilling end to the club season. Up next, the summer internationals. Join us then.

  2. BBC Scotland's Andy Burke at RDS Arenapublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

"Barely a fan (Leinster or Glasgow) has left the ground. Leinster fans paying homage to their conquering heroes, Glasgow fans trying to lift the spirits of their players after a disappointing end to a wonderful season."

  3. Postpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

While O'Driscoll and Cullen head off into retirement, Glasgow will themselves be looking to rebuild as the defeat in Dubin was the last games in Warriors colours for Scotland trio Chris Cusiter, Ruiridh Jackson and Moray Low, all of whom are moving to new clubs. Will they be able to replace such quality players?

  4. BBC Scotland's Andy Burke at RDS Arenapublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

"Brian O'Driscoll and Leo Cullen given heroes' welcomes as they do one last lap of the RDS pitch before heading off into retirement. Leinster fans paying respect to two great servants to their club."

  5. Glasgow Warriors coach Gregor Townsend on BBC Radio Scotlandpublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

"It was a great occasion, but we were just not good enough on the day.

"Experience, better play from Leinster and we didn't take our opportunities in the first half when we had the wind behind us.

"Maybe that affected us emotionally because we didn't play with the same impact in the second half and we just ran out of steam.

"We have made real progress to get to a final.

"The players have played really well and this group is going to be here for the future.

"We have just got to make sure we win it next time."

  6. Leinster coach Matt O'Connor on BBC Albapublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

"We worked really hard all year. They deserve it become they work really hard throughout the season.

"It was a tough battle. We knew that it would be and we needed to put our best performance to beat Glasgow and it is no disgrace to lose to our team.

"Brian O'Driscoll has been immense. They don't make them like that any more and we are just privileged to have him in the environment."

Brian O'Driscoll, modest as ever, ushers Leo Cullen, the Ireland lock who is also retiring, down from the podium to lift the trophy along with him.

Brian O'Driscoll receives his winners' medal. He only played for eight minutes before being forced off the field through injury. However, it will still be remembered as the Ireland centre's day as he ends his long, distinguished career on a high. Appropriately, once again, on the winners' podium.

Glasgow receive their runners-up medals - the first Scottish side to have come this far in the competition. However, the disappointment on their faces shows they really wanted the gold.

  10. Glasgow Warriors captain Al Kellock on BBC Radio Scotlandpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

"They just controlled it better. They did not make many mistakes and were clinical.

"We opened it up near the end as we chased the game.

"We have got to learn lessons, but it's just really difficult to take at the moment.

"We made more mistakes in that game than we have in the last four or five games and that's hard to take.

"We emptied ourselves, but it just wasn't good enough."

So Leinster become the first-ever side to retain the Pro12 title - and deservedly so as they showed their class after the break.

  13. CONVERTED TRY - Leinster 34-12 Glasgow Warriors (D'Arcy)published at 20:08 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

Leinster are rampant now and it is Gordon D'Arcy's turn to go over the try line, with Jimmy Gopperth again adding the two points for a conversion.

  14. CONVERTED TRY - Leinster 27-12 Glasgow Warriors (Kirchner)published at 20:03 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

Just as Glasgow were applying some pressure of their own, a steal by Leinster leads to a score on the break by Zane Kirchner, his second try, which is converted by Jimmy Gopperth.

  15. Postpublished at 19:59 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

For some reason, referee Nigel Owens decides to leave a blatant wee soccer-style trip by Devin Toner on Niko Matawalu to the citing commissioner instead of awarding Glasgow a penalty. Nothing is going Warriors way now as Leinster continue to apply the pressure.

  16. Postpublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

Jimmy Gopperth looks to kill the game off with a drop goal, but the Leinster fly-half's effort drifts wide.

  17. Postpublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

Andy: "Finn Russell is showing his inexperience in open play in this second half. Glasgow need calm heads against this talented Leinster team." Right on cue, the fly-half is replaced with Ruiridh Jackson.

  18. PENALTY - Leinster 20-12 Glasgow Warriors (Gopperth)published at 19:53 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

Leone Nakarawa concedes a penalty and Jimmy Gopperth eases the ball between the posts to give Leinster some breathing space.

  19. Former Scotland forward Peter Wright on BBC Radio Scotlandpublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

"Leinster just look the better team. They are slicker and more dangerous. The Leinster defence is so quick and they are in the face of Glasgow so quickly. But, when there's only five points between the sides, you still have a chance."

  20. Postpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 31 May 2014

The gap is now five points and it is getting to the stage when Glasgow must find a way over the try line to retain their Pro12 title chances. Not only that, but Peter Murchie, a controversial choice ahead of Stuart Hogg, plays a terrible, nervous pass behind Tommy Seymour.
