  1. PENALTY (Steyn)published at 15:19 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

The Boks have kicked to the corner or tapped and gone from a couple of kickable penalties this half, but with no end product they've gone back to the boot of Morne Steyn when Wales infringe on their 10m line.

Former South Africa and Leicester Tigers fly-half Derick Hougaard on BBC Radio Wales: "Wales are putting their bodies on the line. There were a couple of great hits then, particularly Jamie Roberts in midfield."

I'd rather walk through Kruger National Park wearing a meat shirt than take the field just down the road in Nelspruit this afternoon.

Ferocious defence? It's a surprise the players still have all their limbs intact.

Back come the Boks but Francois Louw is smashed by Jonathan Davies with a try looking odds-on.

Brutal, brave defence, this one is going to go to the wire.

"It was imperative Wales didn't give South Africa any momentum in the first 10 minutes and they're back to two scores in front. They're full of confidence and it was some great rugby again from Wales."

Former South Africa and Leicester Tigers fly-half Derick Hougaard on BBC Radio Wales: "It was a great line by Jonathan Davies and he was held up just short of the line. Wales are getting great quick ball close to the line and that's making the difference at the moment.

"It was a great finish from Ken Owens. He definitely placed the ball on the line and the line belongs to the ball-carrier.

  7. TRY (Owens)published at 15:05 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Wales are back on the attack and they think they've scored through hooker Ken Owens! What a game.

It looked as though Owens might have been short initially but he gets the ball on the line and referee Steve Walsh rules that at full speed on the replay he was still in control.

Dan Biggar converts and Wales are back out to a 10-point lead.

Former South Africa and Leicester Tigers fly-half Derick Hougaard on BBC Radio Wales: "The one thing that is working for South Africa is the driving maul.

"Wales just don't look like they know how to stop it and South Africa will definitely continue with that tactic."

Tendai Mtawarira breaks though a Taulupe Falatau tackle but Gethin Jenkins gets over the ball like a limpet and Duane Vermeulen's attempt to blast him out of the way is unsuccessful. Penalty Wales and this game is still anyone's.

We're back and immediately Wales go close though captain Alun Wyn Jones, but the lock just can't get down to a bouncing ball and the Boks survive.

Wales are back up to 14 men by the way.

    Martyn Williams
Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

"You talk about psychology in top end sport, maybe South Africa were complacent and Wales were just desperate. The little turning point at 17-0 was Toby Faletau going away from the scrum and turning it over for a penalty.

"Half-time has come at the right time and the Wales coaches can make their adjustments. It's a big 10 minutes at the start of the second half.

"The first try was all about the rock solid scrum. Samson Lee has done his job around the park and Josh Turnbull is everywhere. There's just more energy in the team."

After a half that was about as predictable as the English weather, who knows what we're in for in the second 40 minutes.

At least Wales will soon be back up to 14, and then a couple of minutes later 15 men.

Survive the opening salvos and they're still in this.

John McEnerney:, external Self-destruct time for Wales. South Africa have their tails up and will go for it like mad things. You have to punish teams when you are men up.

Garry Apps:, external Walsh doing his best to ruin a good game.

"Before the match we'd have been happy just to make a game of it but the first 30 minutes has been so different to last week and the whole season.

"Then within two minutes the whole game changed from that Achilles heel of South Africa's driving maul and it's in the melting pot again. I thought it was over at 17-0."

  15. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Former South Africa and Leicester Tigers fly-half Derick Hougaard on BBC Radio Wales: "It's been a great first half to watch but it could have been so much better for Wales. They're still ahead and they're still right in this match."

"History is bunk," cry Wales as they dominate for 30 minutes.

"Not so fast," reply South Africa as they score two tries within a minute.

"What on earth's going on?" ask bewildered fans.

"It was an incredible couple of minutes. When Luke Charteris was sin-binned, you've trained for a forward to go off but when you're down to 13 it's very difficult.

"It's down to the experienced lads like Gethin Jenkins to have a word and kill the clock until they can get it back to 14 men."
