Former South Africa and Leicester Tigers fly-half Derick Hougaard: "South Africa were at their best with that driving maul. The complexion of this game has changed in the space of just a couple of minutes with the penalty try and two yellow cards. It's a massive character test for Wales now.

"Wales don't deserve this. They've played much better than the scoreboard is saying at the moment."

  2. TRY (Hendricks)published at 14:40 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

With Wales down to 13 men South Africa go from deep inside their own 22 and 90 metres later Willie Le Roux sends Cornal Hendricks over untouched on the right.

Morne Steyn converts and within a minute the lead has gone from 17 points to three.

  3. TRY (Penalty, con Steyn)published at 14:38 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Massive power from the Boks as they drive a maul 20m. Wales infringe and not only is it a penalty try, but they lose Dan Biggar to the sin-bin.

  4. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

South Africa go through the same drill - kick to the corner, win the line-out and drive - and Wales again infringe.

We'll go again... and South Africa lose the line-out! Huge moment and Wales manage to clear through Dan Biggar.

  5. SIN BINpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

South Africa kick a penalty into the corner and Victor Matfield takes the line-out.

Wales manage to stop the driving maul but illegally through Luke Charteris and the 6ft 10in lock is sent to the sin bin.

To put this 17-0 lead into context Wales have beaten South Africa once. That's one win since they first met in 1904.

South Africa have won 26 times, with one draw...

Keri Gibson:, external We've got to keep at this now Wales, you have to keep hold of this. Concentration is key.

    Martyn Williams
Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

"They deserve everything they've got. We wanted to see Alex Cuthbert and Jamie Roberts on the ball last week and the kick chase has been excellent.

"South Africa are making mistakes but the pressure Wales are putting on them has forced it. It's a dream start. After the first try we felt they had to score next but I thought it might be a drop-goal or a penalty. This is total domination.

"We're in shock. There's a long way to go but when this Wales side is confident they're difficult to beat and they're full of confidence at the moment."

  9. TRY (Cuthbert, con Biggar)published at 14:27 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Forget South Africa overpowering Wales, the tourists are smashing the Bok defence into little pieces.

Jonathan Davies knocks over Cornal Hendricks to get Wales on the front foot, they sweep it right and Alex Cuthbert is too big and too quick for the home defence.

Dan Biggar again converts and this is one-way traffic.

  10. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Former South Africa and Leicester Tigers fly-half Derick Hougaard: "It's exactly the start Wales were looking for. It was a great run from Jamie Roberts and there was someone sleeping on the inside. It was a simple move executed to a tee.

"It's unbelievable what a difference a week can make. Some of the guys that stepped up last week and played well are making unforced errors and South Africa just can't get out of their half at the moment.

"The forwards just can't get into the game. They will be wanting to get tight, keep the ball and make Wales make tackles."

  11. TRY (Roberts)published at 14:23 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Bang, Wales pull the trigger. They run a move off a solid scrum, Alex Cuthbert scissors off Dan Biggar to make the initial incision and the 6ft 5in winger sends Jamie Roberts striding over under the sticks.

Dan Biggar converts and Wales have a healthy lead.

After a bright start from both sides it's become a bit stop-start with a series of minor injuries to players killing any momentum.

South Africa full-back Willie Le Roux drops a high kick and although it does nothing for the flow of the game it does give Wales a scrum just outside the Springbok 22.

  13. MISSED PENALTY (Steyn)published at 14:19 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Victor Matfield soars to claim a line-out and is tackled before he hits the ground by Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones.

Second row Jones is trying to lead from the front and ensure his side do not take a backwards step but he's just slightly overstepping the mark at the moment.

Up steps the reliable Morne Steyn but the Racing Metro fly-half pulls his kick wide.

    Martyn Williams
Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Wales

"We spoke beforehand about the importance of the first 20 minutes and Wales have come out and you can see it's the line speed that is stopping South Africa.

"We've stopped them playing and we've gone through the phases and look a totally different side to last week."

  15. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

Former South Africa and Leicester Tigers fly-half Derick Hougaard on BBC Radio Wales: "Watching the first couple of minutes it looks like Wales want to move this big pack of South African forwards around a little bit but we'll see in the last 20 minutes if Wales can keep this up.

"A lot of these Wales guys were on the Lions tour so it's been a long season but they look determined to go out on a high."

  16. PENALTY (Biggar)published at 14:15 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

The visitors are into the lead as Dan Biggar bisects the posts. Wales are fronting up physically and deserve to be on the board.

Pretty even start so far with both sides looking to keep the ball in hand in Nelspruit, eastern South Africa.

You may recognise the Mbombela Stadium from the 2010 football World Cup - the external struts look like giraffes.

South Africa are not just about power though - Bryan Habana's on the wing after all.

He receives a pass deep inside his half and races 40m before scissoring with JP Pietersen, but the centre drops a simple catch and it will be a scrum to Wales.

  19. MISSED PENALTY (Biggar)published at 14:05 British Summer Time 21 June 2014

South Africa try to run from their own half through Jan Serfontein but Wales pounce and win a penalty at the ruck.

It's out on the right, 15 metres in from the touchline, but Dan Biggar pulls his kick.

Some teams like to go round you - New Zealand - or slice you into pieces - New Zealand again.

South Africa like to go straight at you, time after time after time, until your defensive line is rubble.

Wales survive the first assault, can they hold out for 80 minutes?
