Rodney Parade is not an inviting place on a wet evening

Matches in May can often be entertaining affairs, as teams make use of the springtime sunshine and firm surfaces to play expansive, carefree rugby.

That might not be the case tonight as Newport Gwent Dragons host Edinburgh at Rodney Parade, which is grey and dank after a day of unseasonably heavy rain.

The home side have revenge on their minds after they were hammered 45-16 by Edinburgh in last month's European Challenge Cup semi-final.

If Dragons can avenge that mauling with a victory this evening, they would be doing Scarlets a huge favour.

Scarlets are currently sixth in the Pro12 table, the last of the automatic qualifying spots for the European Champions Cup, and just one point ahead of Edinburgh in seventh.

So a large part of west Wales - as well as the east - will be cheering on the Gwent region tonight.

  3. Revenge bid - NG Dragons v Edinburgh (Kick-off 19:30 BST)published at 19:10 British Summer Time 8 May 2015

Meanwhile at Rodney Parade Newport Gwent Dragons are out to get their own back on Edinburgh just three weeks after the Scottish sides trounced them 45-16 in the semi-final of the European Challenge Cup. Defeat for Edinburgh could prove a fatal blow for their hopes of finishing sixth in the last automatic spot for Champions Cup qualification.

  4. Title clash - Ospreys v Glasgow (Kick-off 19:35 BST)published at 19:09 British Summer Time 8 May 2015

Fourth placed Ospreys host Pro12 leaders Glasgow at the Liberty Stadium with both sides battling to secure a place in the top two to ensure a home semi-final tie in the play-offs. A top two finish would be a big step towards reaching the final given that both are unbeaten in the Pro12 at home in 2014-15. Ospreys have not lost in the league at the Liberty Stadium since February 2014 against Munster.
