Fiji 19-10 Uruguay (Penalty, con Nadolo)

    No need to over-complicate things.

Eight Fijian forwards are bigger, stronger and better organised than their Uruguayan counterparts and force the penalty try as the scrum heads back in reverse at speed.

    Nadolo clips over the extras.

The Uruguayans' discipline is fraying. A string of penalties - mostly offsides - see them ship territory and suddenly they are parked back under their posts.

A tremendous three-man tag team tackle on Nemani Nadolo holds up Fiji when a score seems inevitable.

Uruguay have suddenly gained six inches in height and a couple of stone in muscle.

They are flying into contact with relish, running with confidence and the Fijians look a little rattled.

Fiji 12-10 Uruguay (Arboleya, con Duran)

The replacements are running onto the pitch, coach Lemoine - the last Uruguayan to score a World Cup try way back in 2003 - is slapping the perspex in delight, and Stadium MK has its loudest cheer of the night.

Hooker Carlos Arboleya takes a flat crash ball and a lovely ramrod angle and batters his way over the final five metres to cross.

An easy conversion and the gap is only two points with nearly a quarter of the match gone.

    Fiji 12-0 Uruguay

As you would expect from a team scoring at a rate of more than a point per minute, Fiji are dominating both possession and territory in the opening 10 minutes.

  9. Fiji 12-0 Uruguaypublished at 11 mins

Sterling work from Uruguay blind-side flanker Juan Gaminara. He dumps a Fiji runner on the deck, springs up and clamps over the top to earn his side a penalty in the shadow of their own posts.

    Respite.

    Fiji 12-0 Uruguay (Kenatale)

Textbook from Uruguay. The forwards do their job, wheeling the scrum to bring up the left shoulder and expose the Uruguay blind side.

Nemia Kenatale then snipes from scrum-half, shrugging off Alejo Duran to get in at the corner.

Namani Nadolo misses with his conversion attempt from out wide.

Declining to oppose the driving maul off the line-out has been a tactic used successfully by a lot of nations so far at the tournament.

It feels counter-intuitive but works for Uruguay.

But now they have given away a scrum penalty...

  12. Sin-binpublished at 6 mins

    Fiji 7-0 Uruguay

A man down for 10 minutes against a fresh and firing Fiji. Uruguay are backed into a nasty corner already.

Fiji 7-0 Uruguay (Penalty try, con Nadolo)

Levani Botia bounced the ball down short of the whitewash. No score on two counts.

But that is not the end of the matter.

Botia's botched grounding is caused by an illegal tackle from scrum-half Agustín Ormaechea. The Uruguay number nine dived into Botia's legs shoulder first and with no attempt to wrap the arms.

JP Doyle rules that Botia would have scored had it not been for the illegal tackle.

Penalty try and a yellow card for Ormaechea.

    Fiji 0-0 Uruguay

Levani Botia dives into the corner. It looks legit and a Fiji opener. Let's go upstairs and find out...

  15. Fiji 0-0 Uruguaypublished at 2 mins

An early penalty for Fiji and they turn down the tee and boot into the corner for the line-out. There are using this match as a test-your-strength climax to their campaign.

  16. Kick-offpublished at 1 mins

    Fiji 0-0 Uruguay

We are underway as Uruguay centre Joaquin Prada claims the Fijian kick-off and his team-mate Agustín Ormaechea box-kicks back up towards halfway.

A solid start from the underdogs.

Uruguay's player belt out their tune in proud style.

You would be proud too if you had gone to Russia and won a two-legged play-off to qualify for this tournament.

There are no easy games in Krasnoyarsk.

Uruguay are without injured Felipe Berchesi - who has scored all of their points in the tournament, with Alejo Duran taking his place at fly-half.

Coach Pablo Lemoine makes six changes to his starting XV from the 65-3 defeat by Australia.
