Wasps are on the ropes. They really need to steady the ship. They're being battered by Quins at the moment, and it is important they steady the ship and don't give more points away.

First points of the second half at Sixways to Northampton as Stephen Myler slots a penalty after a dominant scrum by his pack gave him the chance to go for the posts.

  3. Replacementpublished at 20:52

    Worcester 10-6 Northampton

Northampton make a change inside the first couple of minutes of the second half.

Centre Tom Stephenson is taken off, with George Pisi joining the backline alongside brother Ken.

  4. Worcester 10-6 Northamptonpublished at 20:51

Henry's a confident sounding Northampton fan at Sixways.

A loss to a side playing in the Championship last season on the opening day would be a surprise for the team that finished first before the play-off matches!

Harlequins turn the ball over and outside centre George Lowe is the man with the try that extends their lead.

It was Nick Evans who timed the crucial pass to perfection, and Evans converts to put the hosts nine points ahead.

The half-time whistle goes at Kingston Park. This one was a 20:00 BST start, in case you've forgotten.

Gloucester, it is a safe to say, are well in control.

As we take a breather for the two earlier games, let me point you in the direction of Rugby World Cup games over the weekend.

  12. Half-timepublished at 20:32

    Worcester 10-6 Northampton

Any doubts that Worcester would not be able to compete in the Premiership a la London Welsh are gone in that first 40 minutes.

GJ van Velze's well worked try gave the Warriors the lead after two early Stephen Myler penalties.

  13. try

    Try (Sharples)published at 20:31

    Newcastle Falcons 3-24 Gloucester

Wing Charlie Sharples crosses for the visitors after Billy Meakes' burst of pace.

Billy Twelvetrees successfully converts this time so Gloucester are 21 points in front.

Things are not looking good, so far, for Falcons.

I think Saints have played into Worcester's hands a bit - the first games of the season there is always that desire and everyone is up for it so it is played a bit like a Sevens game. Worcester have just got in Saints' face, put in some big hits and managed to turn over a lot of ball.

This is not the start to the Premiership season that Newcastle's players, supporters and management would have wanted. They are second best in every area.

  17. try

    Try (Kvesic)published at 20:26

    Newcastle Falcons 3-17 Gloucester

Gloucester take firm control of this game as Willie Heinz finds Matt Kvesic, who goes over in the corner.

The referee was playing an advantage, and Gloucester made it count.

Billy Twelvetrees can't make the conversion so it is a 14-point lead.

Twelvetrees had missed his kick from a penalty a few minutes earlier, so the visitors could be even further ahead.

  18. Worcester 10-6 Northamptonpublished at 20:24

Worcester lost just one game at home in the Championship last year and they are really taking the game to the side that finished top of the pile in the Premiership.

They have a line-out in an attacking position but Northampton do enough in defence to keep them out.

  19. Penalty (Twelvetrees)published at 20:22

    Newcastle Falcons 3-12 Gloucester

Billy Twelvetrees' kicking is doing the business for Gloucester so far. They extend their lead to nine points.

  20. try

A touch of class from Tom Heathcote with a lovely show and go before he sends captain GJ van Velze over out wide.

The fly-half adds the extras and the noise levels rise at Sixways.
