  1. Thanks for joining us

That's just about us for today's Premiership rugby union. It's been epic.

We'll be back again tomorrow for coverage of Wasps against Gloucester, which kicks off at 15:00 GMT, so we'll see you then!

  2. Recap

    FT: Exeter 19-6 Leicester

    Gareth Steenson

Gareth Steenson's haul of 19 points secured an impressive win for Exeter Chiefs over Leicester Tigers in the Premiership.

The Chiefs fly-half stretched for the only try in the opening stages before adding two penalties to give the hosts a 13-3 lead at the break.

Adam Thompstone had a try disallowed for the Tigers who had only two Owen Williams penalties for their efforts.

The win moves Exeter to second, two points off leaders Saracens, while Leicester drop to fourth.

  3. Recap

    FT: Worcester 28-20 Newcastle

    Chris Pennell

Worcester Warriors ran in four first-half tries as they claimed a bonus-point win over Newcastle Falcons at Sixways.

Former Scotland centre Alex Grove scored twice after tries from Chris Pennell and new signing Bryce Heem, Tom Heathcote landing all four conversions.

Newcastle got back to within 28-17 at the break when Tom Catterick came off the bench to match Micky Young's try.

A penalty from Mike Delany, who also kicked both conversions, proved the game's only second-half score.

  4. Recap

    FT: London Irish 14-45 Bath

    Ollie Devoto

Bath ran in six tries as they made light of Sam Burgess's return to rugby league by beating London Irish 45-14 in the Premiership.

Wales international Rhys Priestland's early penalty, followed by conversions of tries by loose forward Leroy Houston and Ollie Devoto gave Bath a 17-0 lead.

Shane Geraghty converted Scott Steele's try to whittle it back by the break.

But Bath ran in four second half-tries from Alafoti Faosiliva, Kyle Eastmond, Priestland and Nikola Matawalu.

  5. Recap

    FT: Northampton 6-12 Saracens

    Owen Farrell

England fly-half Owen Farrell kicked all of Saracens' points as they beat Northampton Saints at Franklin's Gardens.

Saints, who topped last season's Premiership table and were boosted by the return of Wales wing George North, went ahead with Stephen Myler's kick.

But Farrell twice landed penalties to give Sarries a 6-3 half-time lead.

In a match dominated by breakdown battles and kicking for territory, two more Farrell penalties after the break secured victory for the 2015 champions.

  6. FT: Exeter 19-6 Leicester

Quote Message: I think you have to give credit to Exeter - we struggled at the set-piece today and we struggled to get a foothold in the game. But it's round four, there's a long way to go and it's not the end of the world. from Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill BT Sport

  7. FT: Exeter 19-6 Leicester

Quote Message: The most pleasing thing for me was that we didn't buckle during the moments of pressure. That's typically where we've failed against Leicester in the past. But today we weathered those storms, and our scrum particularly functioned today. from Exeter head coach Rob Baxter BT Sport

  9. Man of the Match

    FT: Exeter 19-6 Leicester

Quote Message: It was fantastic to beat a side going as well as Leicester have been. It was big for us to see where we were really at against a top-four side. from Exeter fly-half Gareth Steenson BT Sport
    Exeter fly-half Gareth SteensonBT Sport
  10. Full-time

    Exeter 19-6 Leicester

But Peter Betham is forced into touch, Exeter secure the line-out and Jack Nowell smashes it back out of play to prompt the final whistle.

A first Chiefs victory over Leicester since 2012.

  11. Exeter 19-6 Leicester

We're into the final minute and Tigers have the ball in hand. They could, at least, still sneak themselves a losing bonus point...

  12. Penalty (Steenson)

    Exeter 19-6 Leicester

Nonetheless, Gareth Steenson splits the posts to take his personal tally to 19 points and add further confirmation of Exeter's victory.

  13. No try (Nowell)

    Exeter 16-6 Leicester

The try won't count because Jack Yeandle was holding onto the foot of Riccardo Brugnara at the breakdown - but the Leicester man then retaliates by kicking out at Yeandle.

So what does all of the above mean? A yellow card for Brugnara and, despite the try being disallowed, a penalty for Exeter.

A bit confused by the outcome? Me too.

    Jack Nowell
  14. Try review (Nowell)

    Exeter 16-6 Leicester

And is that the cherry on top of Exeter's icing? Jack Nowell scores - but we're going to the television match official first.

  15. Penalty (Steenson)

    Exeter 16-6 Leicester

Gareth Steenson lands the relatively routine penalty to stretch that lead back to 10 points.

As we march towards the final five minutes, it's Steenson 16-6 Leicester.

  16. Exeter 13-6 Leicester

Another scrum... Another Exeter penalty! The brilliant scrummaging from their pack may well prove the difference here.

It's right in front of the sticks, so Gareth Steenson will go for goal...

  17. Exeter 13-6 Leicester

The visitors attempt to run it from their own line, but a couple of knock-ons mean an exhaustive passage of play comes to an end.

We're seeing a replay now of that first offload from Exeter forward Dave Ewers - great work from the big man!

  18. Exeter 13-6 Leicester

They tick into a 13th phase, a 14th phase... They're up to the five-metre line...

    But it's turned over!

  19. Exeter 13-6 Leicester

The home crowd will certainly feel they haven't seen enough of their side with ball in hand since the interval - but the men in black are into the Leicester half now, two super offloads taking them up to the 22...

  20. Missed penalty (Slade)

    Exeter 13-6 Leicester

No luck for Henry Slade there, however - despite a pocket of cheers from the far side, thinking the England back had landed the kick.

It drifts wide of the near upright and still the margin is seven points.

  21. Exeter 13-6 Leicester

We've been through this already today, haven't we?

From the restart, Jack Nowell's break pierces a hole in the Leicester defence, and Tigers are then pinged for straying offside.

Centre Henry Slade calls for the tee...

  22. Penalty (Williams)

    Exeter 13-6 Leicester

Owen Williams splits the sticks and Tigers are back to within losing bonus point range.

Now, can they do even better than that from this position?

  23. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Luke Cowan-Dickie is penalised for failing to use his arms in the tackle - and Leicester's Owen Williams has decided enough is enough and he will go for the posts...

  24. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

The Tigers are back inside enemy territory once more now though, working through phase after phase and creeping beyond the 22-metre line...

  25. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

    Exeter players

John Lockyer is absolutely right, the Chiefs scrum has stood up really well this evening.

And another successful set-piece, again inside their own half, sees Don Armand pick up at the base and Exeter clear their lines once more.

  26. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Quote Message: That is good organisation from Exeter. Will Chudley has put a massive kick in and the Chiefs have good territory from that. The scrum is going well and you cannot take your eyes off this game. from Former Exeter captain John Lockyer BBC Radio Devon
Former Exeter captain John LockyerBBC Radio Devon
  27. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

It's another decent push from the Chiefs pack, but scrum-half Will Chudley is penalised for his part in trying to steal the ball.

Owen Williams takes a leaf out of Gareth Steenson's book earlier on, heading to touch instead of the posts, but Exeter pinch it and clear.

  28. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Leicester are on the attack through Niki Goneva now, scorer of that superb try against Wasps last weekend.

He makes a handful of metres, but when it breaks down the referee decides that we'll go back for an earlier Chiefs knock-on.

  29. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

What have we got here then? Television match official Geoff Warren is called into action once more - this time to look into a late hit from Exeter's Mitch Lees.

After a couple of glances, a penalty is awarded Leicester's way. Any further action required? The answer is no.

  30. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Matt Jess ends up dropping the ball in to touch, however, so the move breaks down.

You really don't see a Leicester pack back-pedaling like that from their own set-piece often, though.

  31. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Rob Baxter's men have just about managed to weather that early Tigers attacking storm, and the two packs will now get down to business inside the Leicester half.

Ben Youngs inserts, but it's a significant shove from the home pack and now the Chiefs come forward...

  32. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

But the Chiefs turn it over and smash the ball long. It's a terrific clearing kick too, putting covering full-back Telusa Veainu under real pressure and hurrying his scrum-half Ben Youngs into a slice to touch.

  33. Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Leicester are on the attack early in the second period, Tom Youngs barging his way through a couple of Exeter challenges.

They're up to the 22-metre line here...

    Tom Youngs
  34. Kick-off

    Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Chiefs number 10 Gareth Steenson boots the second half under way.

Exeter's captain fantastic scored all 13 of their points before the break - more of the same in the second 40?

  35. HT: Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Ben Youngs (C) of Leicester Tigers looks to offload as Will Chudley (L) and Luke Cowan-Dickie (R) of Exeter Chiefs
  36. What's still to come...

    HT: Exeter 13-3 Leicester

And, although only 40 minutes of rugby union remains today, we'll be back with live text and radio commentary on tomorrow's Premiership contest between Wasps and Gloucester.

Our coverage will begin at 14:45 GMT, with kick-off at the Ricoh Arena at 15:00 GMT.

  37. What you might've missed...

    HT: Exeter 13-3 Leicester

    Alesana Tuilagi

This is our fourth Premiership fixture today, with Saracens, Bath and Worcester Warriors all recording wins earlier on.

  38. Half-time

    Exeter 13-3 Leicester

    Adam Thompstone

So Exeter are ahead at the break. Deserved? I'd say so on the balance of play.

But Leicester's Adam Thompstone will probably feel hard done by, his brilliant individual try unluckily but correctly chalked off.

  39. Penalty (Steenson)

    Exeter 13-3 Leicester

Gareth Steenson's penalty from a marginal angle is good and Exeter will take a 10-point lead into half-time.

  40. Exeter 10-3 Leicester

But hold the phone - now Tigers have done the same thing!

With the clock red, Gareth Steenson calls for the tee...

  41. Penalty (Williams)

    Exeter 10-3 Leicester

But how often does this happen? Too often, I'd say.

Exeter infringe in the aftermath of the restart and Owen Williams splits the posts to get Leicester on the board.

  42. Exeter 10-0 Leicester

Quote Message: He slipped then so he did very well to get the ball through. It is so unusual for Gareth as he practices two hours a day. Six or seven minutes ago it could have been 7-7 but the Chiefs now look in charge. from Former Exeter captain John Lockyer BBC Radio Devon
Former Exeter captain John LockyerBBC Radio Devon
  43. Penalty (Steenson)

    Exeter 10-0 Leicester

And this time Gareth Steenson will take the points - which he manages to despite a slight slip as he kicked from the tee.

  44. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

Here come the Chiefs again then, Henry Slade bouncing off a tackle but opting not to offload.

Leicester are penalised for a deliberate knock-on in the subsequent phase of play, however, and so Exeter have a penalty.

  45. No try (Thompstone)

    Exeter 7-0 Leicester

Goodness me - that's incredibly unlucky for Adam Thompstone, who burst down the right wing, side-stepped the tackler brilliantly and touched down in the corner.

But he was only able to touch down on top of James Short's leg, and so it won't count.

Great defence from Short? Not for me, completely lucky his outstretched leg saved a certain superb solo try.

    Adam Thompstone
  46. Try review (Thompstone)

    Exeter 7-0 Leicester

Has Adam Thompstone crossed in the corner? At first glance it looks like he has... But we're heading to the television match official.

  47. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

Referee Greg Garner hasn't been entirely happy with the scrum so far - and this time Chiefs are pinged for an infringement.

    Leicester are streaming forward now...

    Ben Youngs of Leicester
  48. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

But this time it doesn't end with a try, as Tom Croft and Adam Thompstone combine to force Luke Cowan-Dickie out of play.

    Adam Thompstone
  49. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

I appreciate this is nothing new - Exeter have long established themselves as a quality side at the top table - but it's fantastic to see Gareth Steenson turn down another relatively simple shot at the posts for a crack from touch against a side with Leicester's record and reputation.

  50. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

It's also been an impressive first 25 minutes from the Chiefs pack at scrum time, winning another penalty at the set-piece to prompt a wee ticking off for Tigers hooker Fraser Balmain.

They head to touch, win the line-out... And then win another penalty.

  51. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

Quote Message: This is tremendous pressure Exeter are withstanding. They have done very well to keep Leicester out so far and just keep their discipline for the past few minutes. from Former Exeter captain John Lockyer BBC Radio Devon
Former Exeter captain John LockyerBBC Radio Devon
Tom Youngs (C) of Leicester Tigers runs at Mitch Lees (R) of Exeter Chiefs
  52. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

That's just outstanding from Exeter in defence, though, and they turn it over to allow scrum-half Will Chudley to send a box kick forward.

  53. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

This is more like it from Leicester, up to the Exeter five-metre line for the first time.

Niki Goneva is boshed back by opposition wing Jack Nowell out wide to send them a good four or five metres in the wrong direction - but still they come forward.

  54. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

But again a handling error creeps in and Chiefs boot the ball long to turn Tigers heads.

Now, Leicester full-back Telusa Veainu has been involved plenty in the opening stages, and again jinks past a tackler to move the visitors forward.

Phil Dollman (R) of Exeter Chiefs is tackled by Telusa Veainu of Leicester Tigers
  55. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

  56. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

It's all a touch chaotic five metres from Leicester's line, both sides juggling the ball and lacking any real conviction.

But Tigers have worked their way up the field now, up to the Chiefs 22 as their forwards batter away at the Exeter defensive line.

    Telusa Veainu
  57. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

We're heading to the television match official here after Luke Cowan-Dickie is pulled up for a high tackle on Tom Croft - but it'll be a penalty and nothing more.

And, oh dear, Owen Williams. He's kicked the touch-finder beyond the in-goal area and handed Chiefs a scrum.

  58. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

Quote Message: That was a brilliant bit of rugby as it was a great gamble Exeter took by not taking the three points on offer. He's not the biggest man in the world but Gareth had enough momentum to stretch over. from Former Exeter captain John Lockyer BBC Radio Devon
Former Exeter captain John LockyerBBC Radio Devon
  59. Exeter 7-0 Leicester

This has been an eye-catching start from Chiefs - against a Tigers side with three wins from three before today.

Having secured the ball from the restart, Jack Nowell turns the Leicester defence with a fleet-footed mini-break and then hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie gets up to support his wing to punch a further hole.

But a knock-on later and the visitors can clear long.

Tom Youngs (C) of Leicester Tigers runs at Mitch Lees (R) of Exeter Chiefs
  60. Try (Steenson, con Steenson)

    Exeter 7-0 Leicester

And the hosts' ambition is rewarded with a try inside the opening five minutes.

The rolling maul is in good working order and, a couple of phases later, fly-half Gareth Steenson finds himself in just about enough space to break the line and cross from close range.

Steenson adds the extras to his own touchdown and the Chiefs lead by seven.

  61. Exeter 0-0 Leicester

It'll be another penalty, another kick to touch and another line-out for Exeter though.

They're showing decent ambition here, turning down the posts to go for an opening try...

  62. Exeter 0-0 Leicester

Under the lights at Sandy Park, it's not the easiest to tell the two teams apart in the chaos of the breakdown.

Exeter win an early penalty at scrum time, conceded for wheeling it around, and the home side head to touch.

But it's not the best throw from Luke Cowan-Dickie, and it's back in Tigers hands.

  63. Kick-off

    Exeter 0-0 Leicester

Tigers fly-half Owen Williams boots long to get us under way in Devon.

  64. Here come the boys...

    Exeter v Leicester (17:30 GMT)

The two teams are out at Sandy Park, Exeter Chiefs all in black and Leicester Tigers in green and white.

That's about all the reaction from Franklin's Gardens, so let us now focus on events at Sandy Park...

  69. Northampton reaction

    FT: Northampton 6-12 Saracens

Quote Message: I’m not happy. You don’t want to lose at home particularly. I think it was a close contest, small margins and we put them under a lot of pressure in that first half. We did well to come back and get a point but of course we’re disappointed. I don’t think we’re far off to be honest, there was a lot of good play today especially at the scrum. from Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder BT Sport

  70. Starting soon

    Exeter v Leicester (17:30 GMT)

... Our next focus is at Sandy Park in just over 10 minutes as Exeter take on Leicester.

The Tigers are looking forward to seeing one of their former players it seems!

  71. How the table lies

    FT: Northampton 6-12 Saracens

Saracens extend their lead at the top of the Premiership again with their four points this afternoon.

Jim Mallinder's Northampton sit down in ninth place with still two matches left of round four to go.

    Speaking of which...

  72. Saracens reaction

    FT: Northampton 6-12 Saracens

Quote Message: To have a performance like that you have to be ultra disciplined. I was proud about how the guys stayed in the game and put a defensive shift in. It's a huge win for us as this is a very classy Northampton team. from Saracens centre Brad Barritt BT Sport

  74. Full-time

    Northampton 6-12 Saracens

So Northampton, who finished top of the pile at the end of last season, have started this new campaign with three loses in their opening four games.

Saracens are four from four in defence of their title and impressively ground out that match to silence the home fans - Owen Farrell with all the points from the tee.

  75. Penalty (Hanrahan)

    Northampton 6-12 Saracens

With the last play of the game, JJ Hanrahan takes a losing bonus point for Northampton with his first kick.

  76. Northampton 3-12 Saracens

Knowing they have to try to score a touchdown to give them any hope, Northampton are running it from deep.

They have done well here as well, going from well inside their own half towards Saracens territory.

Can they at least finish with a flourish?

  77. FT: Worcester 28-20 Newcastle

  78. Northampton 3-12 Saracens

JJ Hanrahan has kicked some huge touch finders out of hand, but he spills the ball in the air trying to leap up and Saracens have a scrum.

It's pretty quiet around Franklin's Gardens at the moment and there has been little for the home faithful to shout about in the second half.

  79. Full-time

    London Irish 14-45 Bath

    Ollie Devoto

Scrum-half Nikola Matawalu has added some gloss to the scoreline for Bath, crossing with the last play of the match to round off a thumping six-try victory over London Irish.

  80. Northampton 3-12 Saracens

Wasted opportunity for Saracens to wrap up the win.

As close as they have been to the Northampton try line with a number of pick and drives by the forwards, then they give it to the backs and Chris Wyles knocks on from Charlie Hodgson's inside pass.

  81. Northampton 3-12 Saracens

Another penalty comes Saracens way from a maul, as Northampton are unable to stop the momentum.

This time though they fancy themselves from the line-out and kick to touch.

  82. Northampton 3-12 Saracens

JJ Hanrahan's attempted kick is closed down and Northampton are causing their own problems at the moment.

Lee Dickson eventually does the clearance job and Jim Mallinder does not look a happy mad with his team heading for a third defeat in the opening four games.

  83. Penalty (Farrell)

    Northampton 3-12 Saracens

    Owen Farrell

He is 100% for today Owen Farrell with his kicking as Saracens look to be closing out this game.

It has not been open, running rugby this afternoon but the champions are grinding it out and capitalising on Northampton mistakes.

That's Farrell's last action as Charlie Hodgson comes on for him.

  84. Full-time

    Worcester 28-20 Newcastle

    Chris Pennell

It is full-time at Sixways and tries from Chris Pennell, Bryce Heem and a couple from Alex Grove have given Worcester Warriors a superb bonus-point victory over winless Newcastle Falcons.

At the Madejski Stadium, meanwhile, Rhys Priestland's touchdown has extended Bath's lead over London Irish to 38-14.

  85. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

Saracens on the front foot inside the Northampton 22 and they have themselves a penalty advantage. They spin it left but nothing really comes of it and Owen Farrell asks for the kicking tee to try and kick his fourth penalty...

  86. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

For one the of the few times today, there is a line break as Northampton work a set move off the line-out and Jamie Elliott breaks through.

As Saints try to recycle they are penalised on the floor and now Saracens are up to their 22 with the Owen Farrell kick.

    Marcelo Bosch and Jamie Elliott
  87. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

Chris Wyles does brilliantly under huge pressure from Northampton.

Again it is a kick in behind, as JJ Hanrahan gets in behind Wyles, but the USA international just about manages to evade the defenders to kick clear.

    Luther Burrell and Chris Wyles
  88. Replacement

    Northampton 3-9 Saracens

Marcelo Bosch comes on for Duncan Taylor. His first involvement is to kick in straight into touch outside the 22... Not the best start.

Paul Hill replaces Kieran Brookes for Northampton.

  89. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

    Owen Farrell

Probably a summary of the game when Saracens steal the ball and have numbers out wide with a chance to run it, but instead put boot to ball for territory.

  90. Around the grounds

We're into the final couple of minutes at Sixways, and it looks like that eight-point advantage for Worcester over Newcastle may be just enough.

    Meanwhile, down in Berkshire...

  91. Replacement

    Northampton 3-9 Saracens

Mike Haywood for Dylan Hartley and JJ Hanrahan is in for Stephen Myler for Northampton.

Kelly Brown comes on for Billy Vunipola for Saracens.

  92. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

Saracens under lots of pressure now.

It comes out to Stephen Myler on the right who attempts a cross-field kick, but no one is in danger of catching it and Saracens have line-out 5 metres out.

  93. Replacement

    Northampton 3-9 Saracens

Michael Paterson brings fresh legs to the Northampton pack and Lee Dickson is also on, replacing James Craig and Kahn Fotalui'i.

  94. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

If you are a lover of scrum time, you have been spoilt rotten today at Franklin's Gardens.

After initial Northampton dominance, Saracens have won a fair few this afternoon and now the packs are looking very equal each time they crouch down.

Maro Itoje, now playing second-row, is penalised for offside and the touch finder from Stephen Myler gets Northampton deep into Sarries territory.

  95. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

    Scrum

A succession of really intense scrums near the Saracens try-line, but eventually the visitors win a free-kick when Tom Wood attempts some hooking from flanker.

  96. Around the grounds

We may be try-less at a packed Franklin's Gardens, but there's been plenty of crossing of the whitewash elsewhere.

Now London Irish trail 31-14, Fergus Mulchrone's score closing the gap just a touch.

  97. Replacement

    Northampton 3-9 Saracens

Saracens make a mess of the line-out but a knock on sees them win a scrum.

Jamie George and Michael Rhodes are the first replacements of the game for Schalk Brits and Alistair Hargreaves.

  98. Northampton 3-9 Saracens

An excellent thrusting run from Schalk Brits through the middle for Saracens but as they work it wide it is knocked on.

It's gathered by George North who beats two defenders in broken field play. Stephen Myler, knowing the defence is disorganised, kicks deep and Sarries have a line-out 8m from their try line.

  99. Penalty (Farrell)

    Northampton 3-9 Saracens

    Owen Farrell

... That's three from three now for Owen Farrell, who is as ice cool as ever off the tee.

The visitors have not done a huge amount for this lead but they are keeping the ball well so far this half.

  100. Northampton 3-6 Saracens

The scrum initially stood still as all of the forward legs were locked out, but Saracens get a nudge on and demolish the Northampton pack.

A penalty is awarded and Owen Farrell lines up his third attempt of the afternoon...

  101. Around the grounds

Worcester still lead Newcastle 28-20 as we head into the final quarter at Sixways - but the Warriors' Twitter account isn't sounding too confident...

  102. Northampton 3-6 Saracens

From a line-out on the Northampton 22, Saracens just about manage to keep possession with a whole pile of bodies across the turf.

The champions have themselves a scrum on the left side of the pitch.

  103. Northampton 3-6 Saracens

The kicking theme from the first half already very much on show so far.

Stephen Myler turns the Saracens back three with a huge kick but they recover well and eventually win a penalty.

  104. Kick-off

    Northampton 3-6 Saracens

    Northampton v Saracens

Stephen Myler restarts the game for Northampton.

Can the Saints make their forward dominance count this half?

  105. Around the grounds

Bath have extended their advantage over London Irish right at the start of the second half, with forward Alafoti Faosiliva doing the damage and former Exile Tom Homer adding the extras.

And straight from the restart they've grabbed another - this time it's Kyle Eastmond with the score to make it 31-7 in Reading.

  106. Around the grounds

    Mike Ford

There's not been a huge amount to tell you about in the opening 10 minutes of the second half at Sixways - though Falcons fly-half Mike Delany has just kicked the first points of the second 40.

We should be just about to get under way again between London Irish and Bath, too.

  107. Stay with us

    HT: Northampton 3-6 Saracens

After we are done with the games in the middle of the afternoon, the attention turns to Sandy Park where third faces fourth as Exeter take on Leicester.

    A rugby lovers delight today!

What did you make of that first half at Franklin's Gardens? Are Newcastle favourites for relegation given they've conceded four tries already to newly promoted Worcester? Are Bath back on track?

Any of your thoughts are welcome by using #bbcrugby.

  109. Half-time

    Northampton 3-6 Saracens

Northampton certainly having more of the territory and are on top in the forwards, but two late Owen Farrell penalties see them go into the break behind.

Neither side has had a sniff of the whitewash of the try-line with kicking and territory high up in terms of priorities so far.

Owen Farrell vs Tom Wood is bubbling away nicely but the game could do with some spark.

  110. Penalty (Farrell)

    Northampton 3-6 Saracens

A huge kick this from Owen Farrell as it just about has the legs to get over the crossbar to give Saracens an unlikely lead.

And that's the last action of the first half.

    Owen Farrell
  111. Northampton 3-3 Saracens

Northampton really appear to be targeting Owen Farrell.

First Tom Wood flies through on him as he kicks and then George Pisi dumps him on the floor with a big hit.

However the Saracens keep the ball and have themselves a deep penalty which Farrell will kick...

  112. Post update

    Exeter v Leicester (17:30 GMT)

  113. Missed penalty (Myler)

    Northampton 3-3 Saracens

A bad miss from the Northampton number 10.

He slices across the ball from the left hand side and it drifts wide of the upright.

  114. Northampton 3-3 Saracens

A deep Northampton break after stealing the ball at the breakdown.

It comes to George North who kicks the ball through and then Saracens fail to release the ball in the tackle and Stephen Myler can give Saints the lead again from the penalty.

  115. Around the grounds

A quick update from the Madejski Stadium, where Bath lead London Irish 17-10 at half-time.

And, oddly considering the two matches kicked off at the same time, the second period has begun at Sixways...

  116. Penalty (Farrell)

    Northampton 3-3 Saracens

Boos ring around Franklin's Gardens as Owen Farrell strikes the ball through the posts.

The England fly-half had two goes at international colleague Tom Wood, but he is perfectly cool to slot the ball home and bring his side level.

  117. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

    A penalty to Saracens.

Northampton captain Tom Wood chops down England team-mate Owen Farrell late and the visitors will have a kickable penalty.

We are just checking with the TMO as Farrell then pushes the head of Wood in retaliation...

  118. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

A sniff of an opportunity for Northampton.

Saracens overthrow the line-out and Tom Wood just spills it from 8 metres out when gathering at the back.

Schalk Brits, on his 150th outing for Sarries, just stops the clock for treatment on his leg.

  119. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

    Billy Vunipola

There is a real Test match feel about this game, which you would expect given the number of internationals on the field.

It's not been the greatest of spectacles so far in terms of running rugby but it has been an intriguing tactical battle.

  120. Around the grounds

It's half-time at Sixways, where Newcastle sneaked themselves a try back with the final play of the period through Tom Catterick to leave the score 28-17 at the break.

  121. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

Brilliant bit of inventive skill from Saracens full-back Alex Goode to get himself out of trouble.

He's thrown a low pass by Alistair Hargreaves and, Dimitar Berbatov-esque, controls it with his foot, before unleashing a deep kick into Northampton territory.

  122. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

    Dylan Hartley

    Well that didn't last long.

Saracens' repair work at the last scrum is undone as Northampton win another penalty after the 'crouch, bind and set.'

Can they begin to turn this forward dominance into some points?

  123. Around the grounds

Scott Steele has snatched a try back for London Irish against Bath, a score that's promptly converted by fly-half Shane Geraghty.

And how about this from Worcester Warriors? They've got the bonus point all wrapped up before half-time - Alex Grove's score putting them 28-10 up against Newcastle.

  124. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

... And that's much better from the 'wolf pack'.

Saracens finally get some parity at scrum time and win themselves a penalty inside their 22, which Owen Farrell boots over the halfway line.

  125. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

Stephen Myler is quickest to the ball after Dylan Hartley over throws a line-out, but as Myler throws it up to James Craig out of the tackle, he knocks the ball on.

That does, however, mean another scrum for Saracens to deal with...

  126. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

The energy of the Northampton pack is showing as they win another scrum penalty.

Saints fans inside Franklin's Gardens let out another roar and although there hasn't been any action close to tries, their front eight is well on top here in the sunshine.

  127. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

    Mako Vunipola

... But it's not going right at set-piece time for Sarries.

Northampton drive low at the driving maul and prevent any momentum, winning themselves a scrum in the end.

  128. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

Referee Luke Pearce has words with Jacques Burger and Kahn Fotalui'i which ends with a Saracens penalty.

A deep kick from Owen Farrell and an excellent attacking line-out position for the visitors...

  129. Around the grounds

    Sam who?

Bath are clearly not missing the recently departed Sam Burgess this afternoon, as centre Ollie Devoto flies over to score a second try, which Rhys Priestland converts for 17-0.

Worcester have also grabbed themselves another try against Newcastle, thanks to Alex Grove out wide, and now lead 21-7.

    Bath's Rhys Priestland
  130. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

The scrum at the moment for Saracens is becoming a problem.

This time they are penalised for an early drive and Northampton have themselves a free-kick.

  131. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

A line-out from Saracens and they make metres from the driving maul which is set.

They then bring in the backs but as it is spun wide Alex Goode gets a huge hit from George Pisi. The Sarries full-back is on his feet soon enough though.

  132. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

    Owen Farrell

Saracens just lose some momentum in their attack, so England fly-half Owen Farrell puts in a superb grubber to push Northampton to within 15 metres of their own try line.

  133. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

It's been a terrific start by the Northampton pack.

They got a big shove on at the first scrum and have just won a penalty from the latest one, which Stephen Myler kicks down the touch line.

  134. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

A good period of possession from Saracens, who work it through the phases, but as it comes out to Brad Barritt he attempts the grubber through and, after ricocheting off a Northampton player, the hosts take control of the ball.

  135. Around the grounds

It's all rather short lived for Falcons, however, as Bryce Heem grabs a debut try to make it 14-7 to Worcester.

    Someone sounds chuffed...

  136. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

It has not been the best of starts from champions Saracens but they do often enjoy their trips to Northamptonshire.

  137. Around the grounds

A couple more tries to tell you about from our other two Premiership games.

First, Ally Hogg's converted score drags Newcastle level at Worcester, and then Leroy Houston extends Bath's lead over London Irish to 10-0 with a try behind a rolling maul.

  138. Northampton 3-0 Saracens

We are used to seeing him dazzle in attack but that is great defence from George North, who uses the choke tackle to hold Saracens up in the maul and they have themselves a scrum.

Northampton Saints' George North (centre) is tackled by Saracens' Schalk Brits (left) and Mako Vunipola (right)
  139. Around the grounds

It's all square again between Worcester and Newcastle, as Ally Hogg's converted try makes it 7-7 after around 15 minutes.

Shane Geraghty, meanwhile, has missed from the tee for London Irish against Bath.

  140. Penalty (Myler)

    Northampton 3-0 Saracens

    Stephen Myler

... He's successful and Northampton are on the board.

Straight through the sticks from Stephen Myler.

  141. Northampton 0-0 Saracens

That's clever play from Kahn Fotalui'i, throwing the ball into Alistair Hargreaves who is returning from an offside position, and Northampton have the first penalty of the day which Stephen Myler will kick towards the posts...

  142. Northampton 0-0 Saracens

Oh dear. Owen Farrell who kicks straight into touch from the kick-off and Northampton have the put in to the first scrum of the afternoon.

  143. Kick-off

    Northampton v Saracens (15:15 GMT)

After an impeccably observed minutes silence, Owen Farrell gets us going in a repeat of the play-off semi-final last season.

  144. Starting soon

    Northampton v Saracens (15:15 GMT)

Alistair Hargreaves leads out Saracens who, despite their home kit of black and red not clashing with Northampton's home colours, are in their grey and blue club changed kit today.

Tom Wood runs out leading Saints in the sunshine at Franklin's Gardens and we'll be under way after a minute's silence.

  145. Around the grounds

And it's worth letting you know about the first points to come between London Irish and Bath too, courtesy of the boot of debutant fly-half Rhys Priestland.

    The visitors lead 3-0.

  146. The Welsh wizard

    Northampton v Saracens (15:15 GMT)

    George North

He started last season with a bang on his first Northampton outing against Gloucester, can George North get off to a flyer in his first outing of this campaign?

  147. Around the grounds

We have our first try of the day - and it's arrived at Sixways!

Worcester full-back Chris Pennell, perhaps with designs on sneaking back into the England squad now he's back in the top flight, crosses in the corner to put the hosts ahead.

Tom Heathcote converts and it's 7-0 to Warriors inside the opening seven minutes.

    Madejski Stadium

The rain is beginning to clear in Berkshire as ninth meets bottom of the table.
