  1. try

Try (Ward, missed con Evans)published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Newcastle 10-12 Harlequins

And there we have it, Conor O'Shea will be much happier now than he was three minutes before half-time.

Dave Ward is driven over behind the rolling maul this time to put Harlequins ahead.

  2. Penalty (Heathcote)published at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Worcester 15-15 Exeter

Tom Heathcote is on a one-man mission to not let Exeter pull away.

He slots his fifth kick from six attempts and we're back level at Sixways.

  3. Newcastle 10-7 Harlequinspublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

Now then, Harlequins are already looking a different side at the start of this second period.

They win a penalty well within Nick Evans' kicking range, but the Quins fly-half instead pops the ball into touch.

  4. Kick-offpublished at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Newcastle 10-7 Harlequins

Is it just me or did that half-time period at Kingston Park drag on longer than usual?

Alas, we need wait no longer. Juan Pablo Socino's kick gets us up and running once more.

  5. Penalty (Steenson)published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Worcester 12-15 Exeter

From that Exeter line-out, the Chiefs pack go through a series of pick and drive moves across the pitch.

The Worcester defence holds out well but a no arms tackle from Nick Schonert allows Gareth Steenson to give them the lead from the penalty.

  6. Kick-offpublished at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Worcester 12-12 Exeter

Gareth Steenson, in a muddied-white shirt, gets us back under way at Sixways.

Bryce Heem somehow looses the flight of the ball and knocks it into touch to give the Chiefs a line-out six metres away.

If you're looking for some British sporting joy away from Andy Murray's loss to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final this morning, there was none to be had in the sevens for England in the early hours.

They were beaten by eventual winners New Zealand, who included two-time World Cup-winner Sonny Bill Williams in their side, 25-5 in the semi-final, and then lost 24-14 to Fiji in the third-place play-off.

The Kiwis beat South Africa 24-21 in the final with the final play.

  10. Half-timepublished at 15:47

    Newcastle 10-7 Harlequins

And that will indeed be half-time.

Charlie Walker's try has given us a three-point game at the midway point.

  11. try

Try (Walker, con Evans)published at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Newcastle 10-7 Harlequins

That's an error from Newcastle fly-half Craig Willis, who fails to find touch with his kick with just a few seconds left on the clock, and Harlequins make him pay spectacularly.

Dave Ward makes the break, Charlie Walker collects the ball and slides over in the corner.

Nick Evans slots the extras and, having defended so brilliantly for much of the half, Falcons have faltered in its dying embers.

  12. Half-timepublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Worcester 12-12 Exeter

James Short's early try was added to by Ian Whitten for Exeter who have looked the more fluid with ball in hand on a difficult pitch.

Worcester number 10 Tom Heathcote's capitalised on the Chiefs indiscipline though as his four penalties means it's all square at the break.

  13. Missed penalty (Heathcote)published at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Worcester 12-12 Exeter

Almost 40m this kick from Tom Heathcote and he gets the length but not quite the accuracy.

That's the last play of first 40 minutes.

  14. Penalty (Heathcote)published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Worcester 12-12 Exeter

Tom Heathcote takes his, and Worcester's, tally up to 12 points for the day, but this penalty came after a brilliant run from Kiwi winger Bryce Heem.

Both Heem and Cooper Vuna have looked really dangerous with ball in hand so far.

  15. Newcastle 10-0 Harlequinspublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

Around five minutes to go until half-time and the second-leakiest defence in the division is so far keeping Harlequins at bay.

Quins have a line-out inside their own half.

  16. Penalty (Heathcote)published at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

Three from three now for the Worcester fly-half Tom Heathcote as he slots another penalty.

The Warriors will not be shaken off and Dean Ryan's side are right in this.

It all amounts to nothing much again for Harlequins, though, and Newcastle are able to clear their lines.

Conor O'Shea won't be overly pleased with how this is panning out for his side.

  18. try

Try (Whitten, con Steenson)published at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Worcester 6-12 Exeter

And just as I type we're struggling for some rugby, Exeter burst into life off a line-out!

That man James Short again hits a great line off first-phase ball to break the line, gives it to Will Chudley, who then finds Ian Whitten back on the inside to jog over unchallenged.

Clever set-piece move and Exeter are back in front with Gareth Steenson adding another couple of points.

  19. Worcester 6-5 Exeterpublished at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

Not much rugby breaking out at Sixways at the moment.

A few games of kicking tennis on show as both sides look for territory to try and then build from.

  20. Newcastle 10-0 Harlequinspublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

After another reset scrum - sorry if I'm sounding like a broken record - Harlequins are working through a few phases, up to Newcastle's 10-metre line.

The home defence holding firm for now, however.
