Cherry and White shirts playing white shirts maybe not the greatest combination on a wet and muddy night.

Could be a tricky job for the laundry staff later. Still no points on the board, but plenty of effort in this one.

Gloucester awarded a penalty just on halfway as Exeter collapse their driving maul.

  3. Gloucester 0-0 Exeterpublished at 14 mins

Big drive upfield from Gloucester after a line-out. Real spirit here in the opening quarter from the hosts.

Exeter know they're in a game now.

  4. Gloucester 0-0 Exeterpublished at 12 mins

Great Gloucester defence as Exeter try a series of pick and drives inside their 22.

They eventually turn the ball over right in front of their own posts just when Exeter were sniffing an early try.

Craig Maxwell-Keys then awards the home side a penalty as Exeter fail to release on the floor.

Great early noise from The Shed.

    Quote Message

Exeter have already sensed they have the better of Gloucester at scrum time. They've made a big statement by electing to go for another scrum - and by winning the penalty.

  6. Gloucester 0-0 Exeterpublished at 10 mins

Penalty awarded to Exeter from the next scrum which wheels around too far.

Exeter go for the catch-and-drive in the corner rather than the posts.

  7. Gloucester 0-0 Exeterpublished at 9 mins

Free-kick awarded to Exeter from the scrum and the Chiefs elect to go for the set piece again.

    Sign of early dominance maybe?

A long kick up field from Henry Trinder gets Gloucester out of their own half and deep into Exeter's 22, but the Cherry and Whites don't take advantage from the line-out.

Exeter get clear and then Ollie Thorley fumbles a long kick from Gareth Steenson on the edge of his 22.

  9. Gloucester 0-0 Exeterpublished at 5 mins

Ball does eventually find touch as Olly Woodburn runs out of room out wide as Exeter work it through the hands and there's also a knock-on.

First scrum of the night on a slippery surface.

  10. Gloucester 0-0 Exeterpublished at 4 mins

Thomas "The Tank" Waldrom can't find any space with his first possession of the night for Exeter and some scrappy end-to-end stuff continues in these early minutes.

Ball hasn't gone dead yet. Hope you can keep your breath!

  11. Gloucester 0-0 Exeterpublished at 3 mins

Hint of a late tackle on Tom Marshall by Exeter scrum-half Will Chudley in the opening exchanges, which contains quite a lot of aerial stuff off the boot.

  12. Kick-offpublished at 1 min

Referee Craig Maxwell-Keys is happy to get going and James Hook gets us under way.

A damp and drizzly evening in prospect at Kingsholm as the teams come out.

One other bit of team news to bring you for Gloucester is that with Ollie Thorley's late inclusion for Mark Atkinson, Henry Trinder has switched to outside centre from the blindside wing.

Thorley will take up position against Exeter's Jack Nowell.

Three rounds to go before everyone will have played everyone twice.

A win for Exeter will not only put them top of the table - for tonight at least - but also secure their play-off place.

Gloucester's thin hopes of sneaking into the top six and the European Champions Cup positions hinge on nothing less than a win this evening.

The Cherry and Whites are eighth, nine points off sixth-placed Harlequins.
