There are two more Premiership games tomorrow.

As mentioned previously, Leicester will secure a play-off place for the 12th successive year if they beat Worcester at Welford Road.

If the Tigers slip up, Northampton could still catch them - can Jonathan Joseph's Bath end the Saints' hopes of the top four?

  3. FT: Sale 11-12 Gloucesterpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

As far as the table goes, that defeat leaves Sale still fifth and five points behind Leicester, who will clinch the final play-off place if they beat Worcester on Saturday.

Gloucester remain eighth but are just three points behind Northampton in sixth. It will take something miraculous for Champions Cup rugby to be heading to Kingsholm next season, but you never know...

    FT: Sale 11-12 Gloucester

More from Greig Laidlaw on his positional switch from scrum-half to fly-half: "It's always exciting when you change position.

"I went well in training this week, but training's different to the game.

"Billy Twelvetrees and Henry Trinder helped me out on the outside, and we showed a lot of character in defence as well."

  5. Match reactionpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    FT: Sale 11-12 Gloucester

Gloucester fly-half Greig Laidlaw tells BT Sport: "You saw what it meant to us at the end. It was a huge squad effort this week. It was our goal to come here and win, and we've done that so we're happy.

"We can't go back, all we can do is go forward. We want to be more consistent as a team. It's too late this year, which we're gutted about, but we need to build on it for next year."

    Sale 11-12 Gloucester

Sale knock on, and it's all over. Wild Gloucester celebrations ensue.

Greig Laidlaw is their hero, kicking all 12 points to keep his side in with a shout - albeit a slight one - of finishing in the top six.

Sale's hopes of ending the Premiership season unbeaten at home are over, as are their slim chances of a top-four place. Defeat has also brought Champions Cup qualification into question.

    Reaction on the way shortly.

Scrum to Sale, inside their own half, 20 seconds remaining. One last chance...

  8. Penalty (Laidlaw)published at 77 mins

    Sale 11-12 Gloucester

Well the victory isn't assured yet, but Gloucester hit the front at just the right time, courtesy of Greig Laidlaw's reliable right boot.

Is Sale's unbeaten home record about to be ended?

  9. Sale 11-9 Gloucesterpublished at 77 mins

Gloucester penalty! Eifion Lewis-Roberts penalised for taking the man out. Can Greig Laidlaw win it?

  10. Sale 11-9 Gloucesterpublished at 76 mins

Almost an opening for Gloucester! Sam James is to the rescue for Sale, winning a foot race with Billy Twelvetrees to retrieve the ball by his own try line.

    Four minutes to go.

  11. Sale 11-9 Gloucesterpublished at 72 mins

Another departing Sale player leaves the field. Wasps-bound hooker Tommy Taylor is off to warm applause, as his final home appearance for the Sharks comes to an end.

  12. Penalty (Laidlaw)published at 71 mins

    Sale 11-9 Gloucester

Danny Cipriani is in the referee's bad books again - the Sale fly-half puts in a high tackle on replacement Gareth Evans and concedes a penalty, which Greig Laidlaw slots over from long range.

There can't be too many better kickers in world rugby at the moment, can there? That's three out of three for the Scotland captain, who drags Gloucester back to within two points.

  13. Sale 11-6 Gloucesterpublished at 68 mins

Meanwhile, flanker Matt Kvesic is coming off for Gloucester, having done his England aspirations no harm at all with his display this evening.

As things stand, Sale will be two points behind fourth-placed Leicester, but will need the Tigers to slip up in their remaining two fixtures to stand any chance of reaching the play-offs.

It's 10 years since a Sale team containing Jason Robinson, Mark Cueto and Charlie Hodgson won their only Premiership title - they may have to wait a little longer to have the chance to win a second.

  15. Sale 11-6 Gloucesterpublished at 65 mins

It's a familiar pattern in this game - Sale's Will Addison breaks into the opposition's 22, but is short on supporting runners and Henry Trinder turns the ball over.

  17. Sale 11-6 Gloucesterpublished at 61 mins

Superb scrummaging by Sale. The Sharks' forward pack send Gloucester's forwards backwards and the visitors are penalised.

It's the last action for Sale prop Vadim Cobilas, who is playing his final home game for the Sharks tonight.

He gets a huge reception from the home fans as he's replaced by Brian Mujati.

  18. Sale 11-6 Gloucesterpublished at 59 mins

Sale flanker Cameron Neild knocks on straight from the restart, giving Gloucester a scrum on the home side's 22.

Mike Haley mops up from Henry Trinder's grubber kick, but carried the ball over his own line before touching down, so Gloucester have another scrum five metres out. Big opportunity for the visitors.

  19. try

Try (Leota, missed con Cipriani)published at 55 mins

    Sale 11-6 Gloucester

Sale's first moment of real attacking intent results in the game's first try.

The Sharks go through the phases and get to within a few inches of the Gloucester line, and the visitors hold firm until Johnny Leota twists his way over from the back of the ruck.

Sale in front for the first time, even though Danny Cipriani sends the conversion wide of the near upright.

  20. Sale 6-6 Gloucesterpublished at 51 mins

Sale, who have won three of their last four Premiership games and still have sights on a top-four finish, are struggling to make any sort of headway in this second half.

Gloucester are aiming to avoid a fifth league defeat in six but are not playing like a side low in confidence.
