It's just desperate last-ditch stuff that's keeping Gloucester out at the moment. It's similar to the last 15-20 minutes of the first half.

Huge hit from Sale's Will Addison on Mark Atkinson. A monster hit. No wonder the Gloucester man spilled the ball from that tackle.

  3. Sale 6-6 Gloucesterpublished at 43 mins

Gloucester have the first attacking spell of the second half, but Johnny Leota's outstanding turnover steals possession back for the hosts.

There's been a lot of that so far tonight - both sides getting the ball in attacking areas but good defence preventing them from getting anywhere near the try line.

  6. Andrew to leave RFUpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

Earlier today, it was announced that Rob Andrew will leave his role as the RFU's Director of Professional Rugby at the end of the season.

The ex-England fly-half, 53, has resigned but will complete work on the union's latest agreement with Premiership Rugby before leaving.

"It feels like the right time to step down at the end of the season," said Andrew, who joined the RFU in 2006.

He will be replaced by former England scrum-half Nigel Melville.

  7. The race for promotionpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

Into the second tier, and we'll soon be a little nearer to finding out which team will be promoted into the Premiership next season.

Bristol, Yorkshire Carnegie and Doncaster have all met the minimum criteria to be accepted into the top flight in 2016-17 - the trio's grounds have met the minimum standard required ahead of the division's play-offs, which start this weekend.

Should Doncaster go up, they would play matches at Doncaster Rovers' Keepmoat Stadium rather than at Castle Park.

Bedford did not apply to have their ground audited and will not be promoted if they win the play-offs.

  9. Half-timepublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 29 April 2016

    Sale 6-6 Gloucester

So we're all square at the interval.

Greig Laidlaw has twice kicked Gloucester in front, Danny Cipriani has twice pegged them back with kicks for Sale.

    Still all to play for.

  10. Penalty (Cipriani)published at 40 mins

    Sale 6-6 Gloucester

Sale get a penalty in the final minute of the half in a fairly kickable position, albeit from the halfway line, so no surprise that the Sharks opt to go for the posts.

Danny Cipriani slots it over and it's a level game at half-time.

  11. Sale 3-6 Gloucesterpublished at 38 mins

Into the closing couple of minutes of the first half, and it's two Greig Laidlaw penalties to Danny Cipriani's one.

Gloucester are just about deserving of their lead, but will it be enough to end Sale's unbeaten league record at home?

  12. Sale 3-6 Gloucesterpublished at 35 mins

Gloucester are on the attack again but there's little invention to their play from the ruck - one pass out followed by a drive.

Eventually an offside decision goes against the visitors and Sale clear into Gloucester territory. But it's a good spell, this, for David Humphreys' side.

  13. Penalty (Laidlaw)published at 31 mins

Ollie Thorley's break takes Gloucester deep into Sale's 22 and the visitors earn a penalty, which they kick to touch.

Jeremy Thrush safely gathers and Sale are eventually caught offside. Greig Laidlaw opts for the posts, kicks three more points for the Cherry and Whites and they take the lead again.

In the meantime, Sale prop Ross Harrison is back on the field.

  14. Sale 3-3 Gloucesterpublished at 27 mins

    Quote Message

It's been a really entertaining first half I think - plenty to think about for both sides. One thing with Sale, at the moment, is when they do have possession they seem to be lacking numbers in key areas.

  15. Sale 3-3 Gloucesterpublished at 26 mins

All the talk before this game was about Sale and their unbeaten home record this season, but Gloucester have given as good as they've got so far in this match.

However, there's concern about the health of wing Rob Cook, who is hobbling off and being replaced by Elliott Creed.

Sale prop Ross Harrison is off the field too, clutching his head, with Eifion Lewis-Roberts coming on. Think that's more of a temporary switch.

  16. Sale 3-3 Gloucesterpublished at 23 mins

Referee Tom Foley wants a quick word with Sale fly-half Danny Cipriani over something. Seems like the England international said something out of turn to the match official.

No further punishment, other than a stern telling off.

  17. Sale 3-3 Gloucesterpublished at 21 mins

Gloucester misjudge Mike Haley's booming up-and-under, which somehow remains in play. Sale get a penalty, which is kicked to touch.

The line-out forces another Sharks penalty for entering from the side.

Sale go through a few phases, but great work at the breakdown from Gloucester sees them awarded a penalty of their own.

  18. Penalty (Cipriani)published at 17 mins

Danny Cipriani switches direction and attempts an inventive kick out to Sale's right touchline. It doesn't find its intended target, but no matter - the referee had already signalled for a penalty.

Cipriani makes no mistake from in front of the sticks and the Sharks are level.

Gloucester have played some pretty inventive and flowing rugby, but you feel Sale just have a little bit more explosion and pace.

  20. Sale 0-3 Gloucesterpublished at 15 mins

Cameron Neild's excellent offload sets Johnny Leota away and the Sale centre is only held up by some scrambling Gloucester defence, which eventually earns them a penalty and allows the Cherry and Whites to clear their lines.

Sale threatening a little more in the past five minutes, but still no points.
