It's been a half that has been filled with tries and intent from both sides. With two minutes to go before the break will we see one more added to the tally? Wasps have the ball and are looking to make sure that it's theirs.

It's concerning times for Wasps as Danny Cipriani pulls up in pain after he clears their lines. It looks to be an ankle problem but he's carrying on and clearly looking to make it to half-time. 

Joel Hodgson steps up and nails the kick at goal. It's a valuable three points for the home side with just seven minutes to go before the break.

The TMO and referee Tom Foley decide that it's just a penalty against Kyle Eastmond and Wasps are able to continue with a full compliment of players. Joel Hodgson takes a look at the distance and lines up a kick at goal.

Wasps are pinned back in their own half and Dan Robson doesn't find touch with the clearance kick. Kyle Eastmond's tackle on Alex Tait looks a touch high and we're heading to the TMO to review it.

It's been a pulsating contest. A bit error strewn from both sides. We talked about precision and Wasps are conceding silly errors to allow Newcastle into the game.

Wasps have done a fantastic job at turning this scoreboard around but immediately they're under huge defensive right on the line. Newcastle's pack are rumbling towards the line and have a penalty in their favour too. Are we set for another try before we reach the half-hour mark? 

Ooosshhh (!) a big hit from Falcons' Dan Robson dislodges the ball out of Joel Hodgson's hands and the scrum reverts to Wasps on the halfway line. Once again Dai Young's side are now looking to get their first points on the board.

The Falcons look dangerous every time they get the ball. They're just so decisive, hitting the game-line at pace, lot's of runners either side giving the ball carriers the options.

Wasps' defence looks so porous at the moment.

Once again Wasps are looking to build from the halfway line but a mix up between Dan Robson and Nathan Hughes causes the latter to knock on. The Falcons set up the scrum right on the centre circle... what can they do with this platform? 

Wasps are keeping possession well and progressing steadily towards the try-line. Dan Robson darts through but is just held short after Newcastle repel phase after phase. 

Wasps make it to 17 phases of play before Mark Wilson forces the turnover. It's tremendous defence from the home side and a resulting penalty means they clear their lines.

Wasps are continuing to put their hosts under pressure as this time Kyle Eastmond releases Christian Wade down the right wing but Newcastle's defence holds firm. It's been a pacy and intense opening 10 minutes for both teams. 

Phew! 

This match has started at a million miles an hour! Next, Kyle Eastmond breaks forwards for Wasps but a superb bit of last-gasp defence from Sonatane Takulua forces the knock-on right on the try line.

Referee Tom Foley goes to the TMO, but the try is ruled out. The advantage remains at 12 points.

As you'd expect from a side with Wasps' calibre they're set on bouncing back straight away. Nathan Hughes makes a mini break through but can't control the ball and we have our first scrum of the match.
