The variety of Sexton's play is very interesting so far.

He goes wide there from a runaround and when the ball is slow he puts up a very, very good high kick.

  3. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Wales 0-0 Ireland

George North was criticised for his defending last time out and he just about gathers an awkward kick from Johnny Sexton, and Dan Biggar is able to boot it into touch.

It's Ireland doing all the early running.

Former Ireland captain on BBC One

Funnily enough they watered the pitch earlier...and the ball has been like a bar of soap.

    'Tackle only! Tackle only!'

Hello, shades of Italy at Twickenham here as Sean O'Brien of Ireland gets in the Wales ranks. No team in rugby will ever be surprised by that tactic again though - will they?

  6. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Wales 0-0 Ireland

Nothing wrong with Simon Zebo's handling, the Irish wing takes the ball on the left and then clips it down the line, George North makes an initial hash of fielding it but then just about gets it under control.

  7. Postpublished at 1 min

    Wales 0-0 Ireland

Conor Murray finds touch with a steepling kick and Wales almost throw an interception from midfield inside 45 seconds. Don't forget that pitch is supposedly very very wet indeed. A few handling errors early on?

That anthem under that closed roof. Special.

Friday night rugby might not be everyone's cup of tea, but that was quite something.

    Here we go then...

After a moving minute's applause, moving anthems. Cardiff is dialled in.

    • Wales have scored just five tries in this year's Championship, and only twice in the last two games, whereas the Irish have crossed the whitewash 13 times.
    • Ireland are the only side yet to concede a second-half try in this year's Six Nations.
    • Wales could lose three Six Nations matches in a row for the first time in a decade.

My instinct is that Ireland have the best half-back combination in the competition, that's the brains of your side. All the pieces are in place for Ireland.

They are at another level of intensity. Ireland all the way.

  18. A moment of reflectionpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2017

    Wales v Ireland (20:05 GMT)

A period of applause before this evening's match will see rugby pay tribute to three members of its Welsh community.

Former Wales captain Lloyd Williams - one of eight brothers who played for Cardiff - died last week at the age of 83.

Emrys Evans, a former Llandovery and Nant Conwy player who died in a car accident aged 40. He played for Llandovery side that won the Welsh Cup in 2007.

And a video tribute will be shown for Wales Women's international Elli Norkett, who was also killed in a road collision aged 20.

You've just got time to sort it.

If you're stuck in traffic in Cardiff, you have our sympathies. And our company.

  20. Pressure on players?published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2017

    Wales v Ireland (20:05 GMT)

Former Wales hooker Garin Jenkins on BBC Radio Wales.

"The pressure is on the players not Rob Howley. They have to jump into that river for the coach."

Wales fly-half James Hook disagrees: "If Wales lose tonight then the pressure is really going to mount on Rob Howley," is his view.
