  1. Warriors march onpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    FT: Leicester 0-43 Glasgow

A momentous day for Glasgow and Scottish rugby.

The Warriors ran in six tries to dismantle Leicester at the fortress that is Welford Road to seal a place in the Champions Cup last eight for the first time in their history.

Tomorrow's final pool matches will dictate who they will face in the quarter-finals - English and European champions Saracens or perhaps Europe's in-form team Munster. Either way Warriors will be playing away from home.

A huge challenge awaits in the next round but after this display Glasgow will feel they can go toe-to-toe with any team.

Thanks for your company and contributions this evening.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  2. Glasgow fulfill 'main season goal'published at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    FT: Leicester 0-43 Glasgow

"At the start of the year, qualifying for Europe was probably the club’s main goal, and after a narrow loss to Munster (last week) we knew how tough it was going to be. There’s still a long way to go yet but today was a brilliant performance.

"Everything we planned for all week and the way we predicted the game was going to go happened. It’s not often you get that. We scored early on and kept the foot down.

"The confidence we had, the forwards with the line-out drives and set-piece were outstanding.

"We’re on the bus back up the road tonight – we’ll hopefully get a couple of beers, but we’re back in camp tomorrow!"

  5. Glasgow's potential quarter-final opponentspublished at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    FT: Leicester 0-43 Glasgow

Now we turn our attention to who Glasgow may face in the quarter-final. That will be dictated by tomorrow's Champions Cup Pool Two matches. Those are:

    Toulouse v Connacht

    Zebre v Wasps

Glasgow are going through as one of the best three runners-up alongside the five pool winners. The top ranked team will face the team in the eighth qualifying position (third best runners up), second ranked will take on seventh, and so on.

At the moment Glasgow are ranked sixth but that could change tomorrow.

Glasgow are on 19 points. You would have to think Wasps will pick up at least four points (probably five) at Zebre, so they will move onto 21/22 points.

If Toulouse beat Connacht with a bonus point then they will likely go above Glasgow into the sixth spot. If that happens then Warriors are looking at a trip to Thomond Park for another clash against Munster. If Toulouse win without a bonus point then Glasgow will remain sixth and it will be a trip to face the defending champions Saracens. If Connacht beat Toulouse and Wasps win then again Glasgow will be seventh.

In conclusion it will either be a trip to Munster or Saracens.

    Clear as mud!

  7. 'Townsend deserves massive credit'published at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    FT: Leicester 0-43 Glasgow

    Colin Gregor
Former Scotland Sevens skipper on BBC Radio Scotland

"Teams will not be all that excited about the prospect of Glasgow coming to visit.

"There were opportunities in Europe last season but they arguably let themselves down. No such problems this year.

"Head coach Gregor Townsend deserves massive credit for the work he has done. He was a picture of calm tonight and he will have told the team to go and express themselves.

"The team were a reflection of him tonight. From the off, they had that positive attacking intent and they backed that up with accuracy of their basic skills. It was a very good performance."

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    Leicester 0-43 Glasgow

What a night in the history of Glasgow Warriors.

They knew the challenge they faced to make the quarter-finals - beat a Leicester side that had only lost one European match at Welford Road in 10 years.

They did it and they did it in emphatic style.

Six tries, 43 points with none conceded. They outclassed their opponents in every facet of the game and the Tigers are left broken and humiliated. Quite where this leaves Aaron Mauger's future we don't know, but it is an undoubted stain on his record.

But tonight is all about Glasgow. They crossed the whitewash through Tommy Seymour, Mark Bennett, Jonny Gray, Tim Swinson and Ryan Wilson, with a penalty try thrown in there for good measure.

A historic night for Gregor Townsend and his players.

    Very, very impressive stuff.

    Leicester 0-43 Glasgow

Leicester have a rare foray into enemy territory and from a 5m lineout get the maul rolling towards the Glasgow line. The pack powers over but they are held up and we now have a 5m scrum to the home side.

They blow their chance by conceding a a scrum penalty and that rather sums up Leicester's day.

    No try.

  16. TRY! Leicester 0-43 Glasgowpublished at 62 mins

    Tim Swinson

Try number six for Glasgow and the home side appear to have raised the white flag.

Glasgow move the play from side to side, confident that the gaps will soon present themselves in the Leicester defence.

Henry Pyrgos darts down the touchline and just as he is about to be bundled into touch he offloads a lovely over-the-head pass. Tim Swinson is in support and blasts his way over from close range.

Warriors could rack up 50 points here and the Leicester fans are heading for the exits.
