    Leicester 0-10 Glasgow

    Tom English
BBC Sport Scotland at Welford Road

A terrific start by Glasgow. Powerful, accurate and ruthless. Two visits to Leicester's 22 and two scores and a 10-point lead.

Glasgow are dominating the ball and forcing errors and penalties from Leicester, who look very passive. A dream start for the visitors

  2. PEN: Leicester 0-10 Glasgowpublished at 13 mins

    Finn Russell

Glasgow are winning the territorial battle here. Finn Russell's booming kick took them from their own 22 down to the Leicester 5m.

The home side are unable to break out their own territory and they eventually get pinged for offside.

Rusell pops over the kick to stretch Glasgow's lead to 10 points.

  4. TRY! Leicester 0-7 Glasgowpublished at 6 mins

    Tommy Seymour, Finn Russell (con)

    Perfect start for Glasgow.

Warriors retain possession superbly before scrum-half Ali Price holds the defence 10m from the line and Tommy Seymour flies in off his wing to take the short ball, skip away from a couple of tackles and stretch for the line.

Brilliant finish from the in-form winger.

  5. Warriors claim the initiativepublished at 4 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Glasgow

Glasgow have started really well, recycling ball and working through the phases.

The Leicester defence is solid though and, much like Munster last week, they are hitting hard in the tackle.

  8. Glasgow's task is clearpublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Leicester Tigers v Glasgow Warriors (17:30)

There was a scenario going into today's matches that could have seen Glasgow progress by claiming just a losing bonus point tonight.

However, without going into the minute detail, Toulon's losing bonus point taken from the defeat at Saracens has put paid to that.

They could still qualify with a draw or by taking two losing bonus points (losing by seven points or less + scoring four tries).

The bottom line though, a win guarantees their place in the last eight.

  9. 'We've been waiting years for this chance'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Leicester Tigers v Glasgow Warriors (17:30)

“We realise how important this game is for the club and for this group of players. They’ve worked really hard to get out the pool for the last few years and now we have the opportunity to do it.

“Leicester always pride themselves on the contact area and the set-piece. They’ve got a strong scrum, a strong lineout drive and they’ve picked a strong team tonight. We will need to be at our best to get ascendency in that area. We did that in the home game. It’s different down here and they’ve played very well at home this year, and in the last 10 years, at home in Europe. We’ll have to play really well to win.”

  11. Townsend's last Euro tiltpublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Leicester Tigers v Glasgow Warriors (17:30)

Today's match represents the last chance for Glasgow head coach Gregor Townsend to lead his side into the latter stages of Europe's premier club competition.

The former Scotland and Lions international will leave Scotstoun at the end of the season to replace Vern Cotter in charge of the national team.

Having led Warriors to two Pro12 finals - winning the competition in 2015 - and two semi-finals in his four full seasons at the club, Townsend's spell in charge has been hugely successful.

The one gap in his CV has been progression in Europe. There have been memorable moments in the European Cup on his watch, including the hammering of Leicester and back-to-back wins over Racing 92 in this campaign. However, qualification for the last eight has so far eluded Townsend's Glasgow. How he would love to become the first coach in the club's history to clear that particular hurdle.

  12. 'It doesn't get bigger than thispublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Leicester Tigers v Glasgow Warriors (17:30)

    Tom English
BBC Sport Scotland at Welford Road

This is it for Glasgow. All the victories, all the defeats, all the joys, all the despair, all of it feeds into today - a day when Glasgow can make it into the last eight of Europe for the first time in their history.

The last time a Scottish team won at Welford Road was - wait for it - Fettes College in 1905. Glasgow have lost 16 of their 17 European games away from home against English opposition.

Stats? You can twist them any way you like. The fact is that Glasgow look stronger today. If they can deal with the pressure of playing a side that have lost only once in Europe at Welford Road in the last 10 years then a day of day could be Glasgow's.

It doesn't get bigger than this.

Leicester Tigers v Glasgow Warriors (17:30)

    • A win for Glasgow on Saturday and they will book their place in the quarter-finals as a best runner-up for the first time in the club’s history.
    • Glasgow ended a three-game losing streak against Leicester Tigers with a 29-point victory at Scotstoun in Round 1.
    • Tigers have lost only one of their last 34 European games on home soil, though they have faced Scottish opposition only once in that span (Edinburgh in 2007/08).
    • Leicester have scored just three tries this season, the poorest return of any side in the competition.
    • Glasgow have the lowest lineout success rate this season, winning just 80% of their own throws to date.
    • The Warriors have the competition’s two leading tacklers in Jonny Gray (72) and Ryan Wilson (62).
    • Warriors have lost 16 of their previous 17 away games against Aviva Premiership opposition, only winning at the Exeter Chiefs in 2013/14.
    • Leicester have won all five of their home games against Scottish opposition in Europe with the victories coming by an average margin of 36 points.
    • Seven of Glasgow’s 12 tries this season have come after 7+ phases of play; no side has scored more after as many phases except Leinster who have also scored seven.

  17. All on the line for Glasgowpublished at 16:59 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Leicester Tigers v Glasgow Warriors (17:30)

So it all comes down to this.

On match-day six of the European Champions Cup, Glasgow Warriors face Leicester Tigers at Welford Road knowing victory will take them into the quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

Munster's win at Scotstoun last weekend guaranteed the Irish side's passage into the last eight as Pool One winners, but Warriors can progress as one of the top three runners-up.

Leicester's defeat to Racing 92 ended their hopes of qualifying, but coach Aaron Mauger has promised Glasgow can expect a backlash from his men after a poor performance in Paris. They may also feel they owe Glasgow some payback after the 42-13 drubbing they suffered in the reverse fixture at Scotstoun earlier this season.

Tigers also boast a phenomenal home record in European competition so Gregor Townsend's side will have to produce something special to book their quarter-final spot.
