    Crusaders 3-9 Lions

    Hair-raising pass!

Owen Farrell pulls the ball back to Jonathan Sexton and it almost drops short but some good hands from the Irishman saves the Lions.

Farrell then hooks a beautiful kick deep into the Crusaders 22, but Sam Whitelock safely collects the line-out.

Richie Mo'unga clears their lines and the Lions come again.

A good period of pressure from the tourists.

Warren Gatland said the Super Rugby sides may be as good as the All Blacks, and it certainly feels like a Test match.

And as Gatland promised, the Lions are improving the whole time, with the line-out continuing to be a major weapon as George Kruis reigns supreme.

The Crusaders will surely strike at some point, meaning the Lions must turn their pressure into points.

But could this be the night the Lions announce themselves to the New Zealand public?

Ben Te'o breaks for the LionsImage source, PA

Ben Te'o is a slippery character. He steps his way through three defenders and makes a lovely line-break but that's a very poor pass out to Liam Williams on the wing.

The Lions just can't find that clinical edge.

The Crusaders could have a problem here with full-back Israel Dagg. He's being checked out by about four physios.

    Crusaders 3-9 Lions

So Jonathan Davies and Stuart Hogg will not be coming back onto the field.

That's three Lions, including Dan Biggar from the last match, who've picked up head injuries on the tour so far.

Meanwhile on the field, the Lions get an early penalty and Owen Farrell... misses it.

That looked close. Did it go over?

Maro Itoje on the bench looks confused.

    Crusaders 3-9 Lions

The Crusaders have the early ball in the second half.

We saw glimpses of their attacking threat in the first half but the Lions contained them pretty well.

And they've disrupted the NZ outfit once again.

Owen Farrell has possession and punts a kick downfield and Israel Dagg can only kick the ball into touch.

But the Lions lose their line-out. Twists and turns at the start of this second 40 minutes.

So six the difference at half-time.

Lions need an early score here you feel.

A cracking first half, mainly dominated by the Lions, who are looking far more confident, cohesive and comfortable with ball in hand. 'Warrenball?' Well not tonight, in fact it's definitely not how the Lions have set up to play.

Of course there is the element of winning the gainline but the Lions are trying to play from coast to coast, putting great width on the ball. Owen Farrell, a world class player, is leading this part very well, vocally imposing, and his positioning in and around the forwards has created fluency.

The Crusaders have been underwhelming this half. They've not created much and their line-out has been intimidated by George Kruis. However, that one scrum where they overpowered the Lions looked ominously powerful.

There's been plenty of intent from both sides, but execution and accuracy are both still an issue.

The Lions' 9-3 lead at half-time is a fair reflection of the first half.

    But it's not to be.

The Lions just can't find a way over that tryline.

A much better half from the Lions, they've been dominant in the forwards and will trot off the field rather happy with that first 40 minutes.

A minute left in this half and the Lions want more points.

Owen Farrell punts his side into the corner and in a split second they're down at the other end of the pitch.

Conor Murray takes control as Owen Farrell is smashed by Luke Romano in midfield. OUCH.

But the Lions come again, Ben Te'o with a lovely step escapes the clutches of one defender.

    Tensions rising...

England lock George Kruis has had an outstanding half, running the line-out and showing up well in defence. He may have come onto the tour off the back of an injury, but he has a great chance pf playing in that first Test for the Lions.

    But the ball is lost!

A huge hand in there from Mako Vunipola but Crusaders never had control of the ball after Bedwell-Curtis had collected.

There's clapping, back-slapping and huge smiles on the Lions' faces.

And they win yet another penalty at the scrum to clear the danger.

    Inconclusive, of course.

Even the TMO couldn't see whether the ball was grounded or not.

But the Crusaders have the ball back and they're going for it!

Kick to the corner, they fancy the line-out.

    This is getting rather exciting.

Sam Whitelock knocks-on and the ball pops up to Conor Murray on the wing who darts down the field.

But the ball is turned over and the Lions have real issues here.

Desperate defence from the Lions as Richie Mo'unga makes an electric break through the midfield.

Penalty called as Crusaders try a kick to the corner which is plucked out the air acrobatically by Jamie George, Tadhg Furlong? One of the props.

Danger not over though, line-out to Crusaders,

Kiwi crowds have a reputation for being reserved, but this one is anything but. It's a bristling atmosphere here as the locals sense they are really in a game.
