Sam Warburton has been living up to his reputation as the one of the world’s best breakdown operators, either by using his superhuman strength to get over the ball, or by clattering into rucks allowing others to effect turnovers.
The early penalty against him could easily have gone the other way.
The Lions’ ruck efficiency when in possession has been good. They’re committing just enough players to clear out the ruck, and deliver the ball on a plate to Conor Murray, as evidenced in that heart-stopping, multi-phase attack that was just undone by the interception pass.

After all the pre-match build-up, hype and nerves, this game is fully delivering on every front. So intense. So physical. Such quality!
Beauden Barrett - one of the best players in the world - misses in front of goal after three minutes and then Julian Savea, who has the best try scoring record in international rugby, misses a gilt-edged opportunity for New Zealand. Don't tell me even the best players don't feel nerves!
It has been end to end rugby and just as the Lions looked to finish off some good attacking rugby, an interception by Jordie Barrett on his five-metre line saw New Zealand almost go the length!
They finally scored a few minutes later, a well worked try from Ngani Laumape, and this is rugby brilliance!

A simply breathtaking passage of rugby ends with a sublime All Blacks score, minutes after the Lions looked odds-on to cross.
Jordie Barrett may have thrown a poor pass in the opening stages of his first start, but that was a touch of class from the younger Barrett to field his brother's cross-kick and combine with another rookie in Luamape.
Beauden has started like a train as he looks to assert his influence on this series once and for all.
