    England 39-5 Spain

Another tap-and-go penalty from Patricia Garcia sends Spain forward on the charge as they try to reduce the ever-increasing deficit.

But they lose the ball before they can get into the 22 and England earn a line-out.

As you would expect of the four-time champions, New Zealand are dominating this first half.

They have been camped in Wales' half and, after some patient phase play, quick hands free Stacey Waaka, who touches down in the corner for their second try.

Kendra Cocksedge misses her second conversion but one suspects goal-kicking will be largely academic in this game.

    FOUR FOR WILSON!

Another brilliant set-up from Rachel Burford and Megan Jones in England's midfield.

Burford floats to Kay Wilson - the try machine - who goes over again.

    No conversion again, though.

The little pick and go, while it is not making much ground, it's tying in the Spanish defence. There is one person wide off the nine and Harriet Millar-Mills goes over.

England are dominating the possession, and look really comfortable on the ball.

Burford and Scarratt link up again on the attack, but Patrica Garcia clears the danger and boots down field to give Spain some breathing space.

A try for Scarratt and she's only been on the field two minutes!

The England replacement powers her way forward and combines with centre Rachael Burford.

Burford sends over a looping pass and Scarratt taps down with no contest.

Katy Mclean can't land the conversion. That's three she's missed from the tee now.

Wales have made an encouraging start against their illustrious opponents, but few teams can live with the Black Ferns when they click into gear.

Portia Woodman, a sevens silver medalist at last year's Olympics, made the initial break before offloading to Selica Winiata, who cantered over for a simple score.

It has been amazing how much this tournament has grown throughout the years. Three years ago in Paris was an amazing final and the pool rounds were really good. It is profiling the women's game which is great for the sport.

There has been some really good play from both sides and a few unforced errors.

I think we will see a lot more in the second half of England, they will tighten everything up, fine tuning their passing and be able to carve it up.

What great reaction and skill set from Patricia García.

She is Spain's go to player. She really keeps great control of that ball. Her reactions to tap it quickly and catch England off guard was great.

England are trying to play so flat, which is great, but if they mistime the pass it goes behind them. It hit the floor, Spain were quicker to react and kicked it through and they score.

    Well then...

A loose pass from England in the Spain 22 sees Patrica Garcia go on the charge.

The fly-half grubber kicks forward and outruns the white shirts around her. Spain earn a penalty and it's tapped immediately into action.

Spain continued their attack and Diana Gasso, the flanker, palms down in the corner.

A really nice break, that, from Spain.

Barbara Pla has failed her HIA and Spain are going to have to cope without their impressive full-back for the rest of the match.

Play is congested in the centre of the field at the moment. England try and burst forward through captain Sarah Hunter but she's dragged to the ground by Elena Redondo. Spain earn the line-out.
