    Despite losing their opening fixture against New Zealand, Wales' coaches and players were delighted with how their line-out performed.

    The early signs are promising against Canada too, with a Welsh maul rumbling its way into the opponents' half.

    Ireland have made seven changes for Sunday's match against Japan.

    Scrum-half Nicole Cronin gets her first start at senior 15-a-side level while Mairead Coyne and Katie Fitzhenry also come into the backs.

    There are four changes in the pack, with Ciara O'Connor, Ciara Cooney, Sophie Spence and Ciara Griffin included.

    They scored some good tries out wide but we haven't seen their defence tested and if Wales get at them today then they're not going to be used to that.

    Among the throngs of red shirts there are a few familiar faces, including former Wales and British and Irish Lions back-rower Ryan Jones.

    Having retired, Jones now works for the Welsh Rugby Union and caught an early flight from Cardiff this morning to cheer on Rowland Phillips' side in Dublin.

    The result means England stay top of Pool B by virtue of points scored.

    Both the Red Roses and the Americans have got two bonus point wins under their belts going into their match on Thursday.

    Remember, the three group winners qualify for the semi-finals along with the one best-performing runner-up.

    Given the scoreline, it's obvious England would be way out in front in the stats over 80 minutes.

    The defending champions made 787 metres, compared to 306 from Italy.

    The Red Roses made 21 clean breaks and 94 carries over the gainline, compared to four and 43 respectively from their opponents.

    England captain Emily Scarratt speaking to ITV: "It was pretty good day. It's always a huge honour and I'm always grateful to lead the side. There's plenty to improve on now for a big game against the USA.

    "After the first half we came out with added impetus. Italy threw everything at us and we had to try to break them down.

    "We had some good spells and individuals stepped up and showed us what they can do. We're always striving to better though."
