    New Zealand 45-12 USA

So after a tight first half, the second 40 turned into a bit of an exhibition by New Zealand, and the floodgates opened when they were down to 14 players.

They remain on course for their fifth World Cup title - but will they face England or France in the final?

It's such a shame to see this scoreline because the USA have put their bodies on the line but when New Zealand turn on the afterburners there's nobody that can stop them.

    They're not finished yet though.

Lovely footwork from centre Kelly Brazier who skips, hops, and darts past a couple of USA defenders to cross for her first try of the game.

An easy two points for Kendra Cocksedge.

Try - Ngata-Aerengamate, missed con Cocksedgepublished at 75 mins

    New Zealand 38-12 USA

A lovely kick from fly-half Victoria Subritzky-Nafatali which is collected by the replacement hooker Te Kura Ngata-Aerengamate, who is just hanging out on the wing.

Kendra Cocksedge misses the conversion but New Zealand are home and dry.

  9. No try - Waakapublished at 73 mins

    New Zealand 33-12 USA

Stacey Waaka loses the ball over the try-line in what could have been New Zealand's easiest try of the tournament so far.

At least it spares the USA some embarrassment though.

Cheta Emba knocked the ball forward, and began to discuss her mistake with winger Kristen Thomas.

Meanwhile NZ piled in to hack the ball on and left the two USA players on their heels.

But Waaka couldn't finish things off.

It's just amazing to watch Portia Woodman.

  11. try

Try - Woodman, missed con Cocksedgepublished at 72 mins

    New Zealand 33-12 USA

This is the Portia Woodman show.

One-on-one with one of the best full-backs in the tournament, Cheta Emba, and she just casually steps straight past her.

With 14 players, Woodman seals her fourth try of the game. Outstanding.

Five minutes left on the sin-bin clock for Linda Itunu and the USA are still pinned inside their own half. New Zealand will be happy with this effort so far.

    New Zealand 28-12 USA

We're seeing a new model of fly-half on the pitch today.

Victoria Subritzky-Nafatali is controlling the game in the half-backs, but the immensely powerful 10 also seems to be leading the carries up the middle for New Zealand.

Her side are up to the 22-metre line but Deven Owsiany turns the ball over and gets her side out of danger.

    New Zealand 28-12 USA

Right, 16 points to make up for the USA and just under 15 minutes to do it.

They have the extra player but they need to take advantage.

Cheta Emba gets them started with a huge hand-off and there's space out on the left wing for the USA.

But Selica Winiata makes the tackle for New Zealand, gets her hands over the ball and wins the turnover. Brilliant defence.

She's very lucky to only get a yellow - the fact Hope Rogers was falling down maybe helped her out.

    Oooof.

That was a big hit from New Zealand replacement Linda Itunu who made contact with the head of Hope Rogers.

New Zealand will go down to 14 players for 10 minutes.

    Those are the rules.

That pass looked slightly forward to me but the referee played on. That all came from the captain Tiffany Faaee who powered up through the centre to get them on the front foot - then it was a case of pass it out to the wing and let Portia do the business.

  18. try

Try - Woodman, missed con Cocksedgepublished at 62 mins

    New Zealand 28-12 USA

    Typical.

A strong carry from the New Zealand captain Fiao'o Faamausili starts the move off as the ball is swung out to Portia Woodman on the left wing.

There are gaping holes in the USA defence. Woodman steps Cheta Emba and it's left to Deven Owsiany to make the last-ditch tackle.

But the NZ winger just strides over for her hat-trick.

Kendra Cocksedge sends the conversion just wide.

That try was exactly what the game needed - hopefully it will spark the US into life. You could see New Zealand were being a bit lax with ball, they felt the game was over but it's certainly not.

  20. try

Try - Kelter, missed con Kelterpublished at 58 mins

    New Zealand 23-12 USA

You can never write-off the USA.

Alev Kelter gets on the shoulder of Stacey Bridges who offloads to the centre in the tackle and Kelter manages, just, to hold off two chasing New Zealand defenders and squeeze over the line.

That's Kelter, who captained the USA to victory at the under-18 ice hockey world championships and also played soccer for their under-20 side.

She misses the conversion but we'll let her off. Her side are back in the game.
