  1. try

Try: Newcastle 25-13 Exeterpublished at 16:34 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

Olly Woodburn, con missed (68 mins)

    They can't, can they?

The ball is flung out the back of a scrum and who's there to capitalise - Olly Woodburn.

The Exeter wing gets the ball down, but Gareth Steenson's conversion is missed.

Alex Goode, Farrell con (66 mins)

Saracens get some good front-foot ball and edge forward into the 22.

Wasps appear to have their defence set but Owen Farrell delays a pass, Brad Barritt runs a smart dummy line and Alex Goode drifts on the pass to score the bonus-point try.

Farrell converts. Is that the decisive score?

Wasps 15-21 Saracens; Newcastle 25-8 Exeter

As things stand Exeter will have their lead cut at the top of the Premiership to six points.

Saracens will have a four-point lead over opponents Wasps in second.

But there's still 15 minutes to play in both our games.

    Newcastle 25-8 Exeter

The Kingston Park crowd are really getting into this - pushing Newcastle towards a memorable victory.

Exeter were totally outplayed in the first half and that looks like costing them dear.

    Around 20 minutes to play...

  6. converted try

Postpublished at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

    Wasps 15-21 Saracens

Solid scrum and after an initial carry by Nizaam Carr, Guy Armitage sends Thomas Young up the left wing, has he found the corner?

No! A foot in touch - called sans TMO I'm pleased to report - gives Saracens a chance to clear.

They have a penalty advantage from the line-out drive and send the ball wide up the left wing. The ball almost breaks for Chris Wyles but he's turned over on the try line.

    Wasps 15-21 Saracens

A poor Saracens restart sees Wasps gather possession.

Danny Cipriani chips into the 22 and catches Alex Goode out of position.

He's tackled in goal and Wasps have a five-yard scrum.

    Newcastle 25-8 Exeter

Exeter win a penalty for an illegal tackle and they go for the corner - this could spell danger for the hosts.

But skipper Jack Yeandle's lineout is too high and Newcastle are able to clear their lines.

It's just not happening for the champions - Thomas Waldrom replaces Dave Ewers.

  9. Penalty: Wasps 15-21 Saracenspublished at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

    Owen Farrell (56 mins)

The latest big carry from Billy Vunipola and Ashley Johnson is penalised for not rolling away at the ruck mid-way into the Wasps half.

Owen Farrell isn't having a great day from the tee but this is bang in front and Saracens' lead is extended.

    Newcastle 25-8 Exeter

Exeter throw on Toby Salmon, Will Chudley, Greg Holmes and England international Henry Slade as they look to spark something at Kingston Park.

Newcastle probably know that a bonus-point try would get them over the line here - it would also ensure they end the day sixth.

    Half an hour to play.

    Wasps 15-18 Saracens

Another Saracens high tackle - this one very marginal - and Wasps have another penalty half-way up the Saracens half.

It's quite wide out so perhaps an easier call to go for the corner.

They don't find the corner though, the line-out is spoiled and Richard Wigglesworth - on a record 255th Premiership appearance today - sends a mighty box kick back into the Wasps half.

10 minutes gone in the second half and no score change.

  12. Postpublished at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

    Wasps 15-18 Saracens

Saracens win the scrum penalty and clear.

And now Owen Farrell is back too so it's 15 v 15 again and Sarries haven't conceded again.

Schalk Burger is back, so Saracens have 14 men and no damage on the scoreboard yet.

  14. try

Try: Newcastle 25-8 Exeterpublished at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

    Sam Simmonds (45 mins)

The start of an Exeter comeback?

It went to the television match official, but quick-thinking from England number eight Sam Simmonds earns him a try.

It came from a lineout - Gareth Steenson's conversion hits the post and bounces out.

    Wasps 15-18 Saracens

The maul breaks up but Danny Cipriani finds Christian Wade again - he can't sprint for the corner and Alex Goode makes a great tackle.

Wasps still have a line-out but this time Saracens hold up the maul and win the turnover! A huge moment.

But why didn't Wasps take the three points and get the ball back to attack 13 men?

  16. Postpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

    Newcastle 25-3 Exeter

As you'd expect, champions Exeter have started this second half with some purpose.

Rob Baxter isn't generally the type to scream and shout but you wonder how strong he was with his players in the changing room.

For Newcastle it's surely 'more of the same, please'...

    Wasps 15-18 Saracens

Wasps trying to make the space count and free Christian Wade up the right wing who dances back inside and up to the 22.

A high tackle stops the move - only a seatbelt tackle - and Wasps kick to the corner.

  18. Kick-offpublished at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

Wasps 15-18 Saracens, Newcastle 25-3 Exeter

What a game we have now as Saracens get up back underway, they have 13 men for another seven minutes.

They've also brought Jamie George on.

Newcastle are also back underway against Exeter - can they close that one out?

  19. 'Struggling players need mind support'published at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2018

HT: Wasps 15-18 Saracens; Newcastle 25-3 Exeter

Away from today's action, this week former Wasps and Scotland centre Nick De Luca says more must be done to keep players mentally healthy amid the "hugely pressured and competitive environment" of professional rugby.

The 33-year-old believes British clubs and coaches often lack the knowledge to address mental wellbeing, and that players are frequently reluctant to open up.

"There has been coverage recently of the number of professional footballers suffering from mental illness - the same is true of rugby, it's just not really talked about," De Luca told BBC Scotland.

Ex-Scotland centre Nick De Luca insists top rugby players - many who are "really struggling" - need more support for their mental wellbeing.
