Jack Nowell wasn't favourite to get to this ball, but his speed and desire got Exeter out of jail as Chris Wyles was standing by to put Saracens further ahead.

How big a moment could that prove to be in this Premiership final? We'll see...

Away from today's final the big Premiership news this week has been the appointment of Paul Gustard as head of rugby at Harlequins.

Chris Jones and Ugo Monye went over to the Stoop for the Rugby Union Weekly podcast to speak to Gustard about his decision to leave England, what Eddie Jones said and where he can take Quins.

"What's a place kicking competition and how does it work?" I hear you cry.

    Allow us to explain....

A coin toss will determine at which end the competition will be at and another coin toss will determine which team goes first or second. Each team will nominate three kickers on the pitch at the end of extra time, designated kicker 1, kicker 2 and kicker 3. Each kicker will take two kicks apiece in the following order:

    • Kicker 1 from each team will take a kick from in front of the posts on the 22m line.
    • Kicker 2 from each team will take a kick 15m in from the right touch line on the 22m line.
    • Kicker 3 from each team will take a kick 15m in from the left touch line on the 22m line.
    • Kicker 1 from each team will take a kick from in front of the posts on the 40m line.
    • Kicker 2 from each team will take a kick 15m in from the right touch line on the 40m line.
    • Kicker 3 from each team will take a kick 15m in from the left touch line on the 40m line.

If still tied there will be a “sudden death competition” from in front of the posts on the 40m line.

  4. Could we have another final with extra time?published at 15:52 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

Cast your minds back to last year and you may remember that in the Premiership final, if scores are level after 40 minutes each way, there shall be an immediate period of extra time between the teams of 10 minutes each way.

If the scores are still tied after extra time then the winner will be the team which has scored the most tries in the game (including extra time).

If scores are still equal then there will be a place kick competition to determine the winner.

    We have every possibility covered...

Saracens wing Chris Wyles has broken another record as he prepares to hang up his boots after this match.

The first player to score in three Premiership finals - one to tell the grandchildren, but only if Sarries go on to win of course!

How do Exeter shift the momentum in this final to hang on to their title?

A huge team talk ahead for Rob Baxter in the changing room and probably one he couldn't have imagined needing to give after the intensity of his side's start to this game.

But, he will know his side have been here and done it before and possess the togetherness to turn it around.

However, Mark McCall will be saying exactly the same thing to his players who have held their nerve in so many big occasions in the past.

    Exeter 3-12 Saracens

    And that's half time.

An electric first 10-15 minutes for Exeter followed by 25 minutes of textbook Saracens rugby.

Billy Vunipola and Chris Wyles got the Sarries tries and they seem in control at the midway point.

  9. Missed penalty (Farrell)published at 15:46 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

Play is brought back for a penalty, but Owen Farrell is wayward in the wind.

Maro Itoje turns over, the ball is spread to Chris Wyles and things open up.

But Lachie Turner blocks the attempted grubber and Sarries knock on after a lineout.

Both bosses are making their way towards the dressing rooms.

Some good news for Exeter - captain Don Armand has passed a head injury assessment and is set to return straight after the break.

He's been a miss for the reigning champions, who're on the ropes as we approach the break.

Take a bow Jack Nowell, you've just saved your team from a potential 16-point deficit.

England wing Nowell uses his electric pace to beat veteran Chris Wyles to the ball over the try-line and save his Exeter side.

Owen Farrell's grubber kick was a joy to behold.

    Exeter 3-12 Saracens

Exeter have two consecutive kicks chased down by Sarries - which just about sums up the last 15 minutes or so.

There has been no way out for Rob Baxter's side - they lose the lineout deep in their own territory and this looks ominous...

Play back under way and the power of Mako Vunipola and Maro Itoje is gaining Saracens vital metres.

Exeter are in contain mode it seems, but not many can live with Sarries when they're in this relentless mood.

Vincent Koch knocks on and Chiefs breathe a sigh of relief this time.

Luke Cowan-Dickie spills the ball and lashes it out of play in frustration.

Exeter also have skipper Don Armand down after a meaty challenge with Owen Farrell, and he heads off for now.

A chance for both sides to take on fluids on this warm Twickenham afternoon.

Chris Wyles may want this photo on his mantelpiece if Sarries go on to win this final.

After 10 years at the club, a try in the Premiership final.

It can't get a whole lot better, surely.

No question about it, this Exeter side are shellshocked.

Finally Nic White is able to clear their lines but then Sarries come back once more.

Mark McCall's side smell blood and they normally have quite a good nose for it... Exeter win a lineout and may get some respite.

What a difference 10 minutes makes.

Saracens had absolutely nothing going for them in this final after the opening 15 minutes and then all of a sudden, it's them who seem an unstoppable force.

Exeter will wonder how they have gone from dominating the ball, to almost not having a sniff of it.

A big 15 minutes or so ahead of Rob Baxter's men as they try to stay in this first half.

He's not fit, they said. All the talk was he might have to pull out of the line-up.

Well Saracens number eight Billy Vunipola showed no signs of injury as he crashed over for the opening try of this final...

Well I wouldn't have predicted this scoreline 10 minutes ago.

But that's precisely why Saracens have won two Champions Cup titles in recent years.

Exeter aren't quite at that level yet and are now find themselves right up against it.
