Scotland are in the trenches now. The USA are bringing a level of physicality you would normally expect to see from the likes of Tonga or Samoa. And Scotland are struggling to live with it.
The likes of Joe Taufete'e and Cam Dolan are carrying so hard and getting the Americans over the gain-line every time.
Again some poor handling halts the attack as it approaches the Scottish line.
Time for a water break and boy do the Scots need it.

This is a rough night for Adam Hastings. His kicking has been very poor at times and he hasn’t got hold of this game at all.
America are full of running now. Townsend needs to empty that bench and get some experience out there.

Scotland need to settle down here. Blair Kinghorn sets off on a lovely run, slicing through the USA defence.
He is brought down but the ball is recycled and whipped wide to Nick Grigg. Unfortunately for him, he is absolutely annihilated by Paul Lasike.
In fairness to the stocky wee centre he jumps straight back to his feet, but that must have hurt.

Luke Hamilton is penalised at the breakdown for Scotland as the USA continue to battle hard in that area.
AJ MacGinty slots another penalty to make it a one-point game.
A big test now for this inexperienced Scotland side.

Alarm bells for Scotland as Joe Taufete scores his second try of the match.
The rolling line-out maul is advancing towards the Scottish line. Wayne Barnes penalises the Scots for bringing it down but Taufete is not interested in hanging about. He blasts through George Turner's tackle and holds off a couple of others to stretch for the line.
"Now that is power!" exclaims John Beattie in commentary. It certainly was.
As the Americans would say - now we've gotta ball game!

Between his hat-trick last week and his try tonight, George Turner has scored four tries in 85 minutes. That makes him Scotland’s joint leading try-scoring hooker along with Ross Ford and Gordon Bulloch. The latter pair took a tad longer to get their four tries in fairness.

An intriguing opening 40 minutes in Houston.
Scotland have played well in patches but the USA have given no quarter, particularly in the contact area.
The Scots have scored three tries - one each for Blair Kinghorn and George Turner, plus a penalty try - but the boot of AJ MacGinty and a try from Joe Taufete has prevented them from pulling away on the scoreboard.
All set up for a good second 40.

Gregor Townsend will be frustrated to concede just before half-time but the USA deserve that.
The home side pin Scotland back with several purposeful ball-carries and when the ball arrives with Joe Taufete the big hooker powers for the line, spins out of contact and flops over for the score.
