  2. 'Great to see the George North of old'published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    Sam Warburton
Former Wales captain on BBC One

    Quote Message

George North needs at least 15 touches a game, and with the try he scored, that's what you need from him. He'll punish defences. It's great to see the George North of old days, and I hope they use him like that again in the second half.

  4. Cagey half in Cardiffpublished at 15:38 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    HT: Wales 14-10 Scotland

    Gareth Griffiths
BBC Sport Wales at Principality Stadium

It has been quite a cagey half with a physical edge we were wondering whether we would see. Wales will be content with their work at the contact area and Scotland's discipline has cost them. But Wales will be concerned with the ease in which they conceded McInally's try from a driving line-out. All to play for.

  5. A 'full-bloodied Test match'published at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    HT: Wales 14-10 Scotland

    Andy Nicol
Former Scotland international on BBC One

    Quote Message

It's been a very physical game, there's a real edge to it, real physicality. The quality may be lacking, but if we were worried it wasn't going to be a full-bloodied Test match, we've certainly got it.

So Scotland have had a majority of the possession, Wales have proved the smarter on the floor, and more clinical with their chances, but Stuart McInally's try, plus a conversion and a penalty from Adam Hastings (below) keeps the visitors within four points at the interval.

  7. Half-time - Wales 14-10 Scotlandpublished at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

The opening period concludes with Wales hooker Ken Owens requiring treatment for a clash of heads with Scotland number eight Ryan Wilson as he tried to catch a pass in midfield. Ouch.

    Wales 14-10 Scotland

Just when Scotland seemed to be building up another head of steam, Justin Tipuric is onto a loose pass and Wales break away. Scotland flanker Hamish Watson concedes a penalty on the floor, and Wales are on the attack again as half-time approaches...

  9. try

Try - Wales 14-10 Scotlandpublished at 35 mins

    Stuart McInally

Scotland hit back. The visitors kick a penalty to the left corner, Ben Toolis takes it, and Stuart McInally is at the back of the maul to plunge over.

Adam Hastings slides over an excellent conversion. Game on.

  10. "Discipline a problem for Scotland"published at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    Andy Nicol
Former Scotland international on BBC One

Scotland are causing themselves problems through a lack of discipline. There are good penalties to give away and bad penalties, and a couple of bad penalties have stopped Scotland's momentum.

  11. Huw Jones 'not an international defender'published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    Wales 14-3 Scotland

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

Huw Jones missed the tackle on the defensive line, along with Alex Dunbar. Huw Jones is not an international defender, he is in attack, there's no doubt, but in defence he is left wanting at times.

  12. 'Awful moment' for Jonespublished at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    Wales 14-3 Scotland

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

And that’s why Huw Jones is such an infuriating player. Brilliant in attack, suspect in defence. I know it’s George North he’s trying to take down, but that’s a terrible effort and it’s allowed North through. Awful moment

Try - Wales 14-3 Scotlandpublished at 30 mins

    George North

Not pleasant viewing for Scotland's centres, this. Giant Wales wing George North powers through Huw Jones and Alex Dunbar before holding off Blair Kinghorn's last-ditch attempt to score his 34th Wales try, in his 77th Test. That takes him past Ieuan Evans into third on Wales' all-time list.

Leigh Halfpenny, for once, cannot add the extras.

  14. 'What an inspiration'published at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    Wales 9-3 Scotland

Doddie Weir's face appears on the big screen during a break in play. The big man, as ever, is smiling. Watch the ovation he was given before kick-off.

  15. Penalty - Wales 9-3 Scotlandpublished at 26 mins

    Adam Hastings

A big tackle from Scotland flanker Jamie Ritchie on Wales prop Nicky Smith paves the way for a penalty to the visitors. Adam Hastings shows no signs of nerves as he lands his first points for his country.

    Leigh Halfpenny

  17. 'Scotland not doing enough with possession'published at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    Wales 6-0 Scotland

    Colin Gregor
Former Scotland sevens captain on Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

Scotland have had a lot of possession for Scotland but they've not done a massive amount with it. We know that the Welsh defensive coach Shaun Edwards has them really well-drilled, they're winning the battle in the gain line. Scotland need to generate some sort of quick ball and keep it in hand, we've seen some cases of them wasting possession.

  18. Dynamic Lewis impresses for Walespublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2018

    Wales 6-0 Scotland

    Gareth Griffiths
BBC Sport Wales at Principality Stadium

In the build-up to the George North try that was just disallowed, there was a dynamic carrying cameo from Cardiff Blues prop Dillon Lewis.

Warren Gatland mentioned in the week that Lewis had a point to prove because he was not rated that highly by his former Blues coach Danny Wilson, who is now the Scotland forwards coach. So an early reminder from the Wales tight-head maybe.

  19. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Wales 6-0 Scotland
