    I had the pleasure of playing many of my internationals with Doddie Weir. He was a character. He was very mobile, good hands, great rugby player and great team-mate of mine. Big Doddie was a really comical guy, just like he is now - smile on his face all the time, you couldn't help but smile and laugh when Doddie was in the room. It really did make for a fantastically good team spirit. It's great to see him here this weekend, he never loses that smile and that's my big memory of the big fella, he's always got that great big dirty smile on his face.

  2. 'To have a trophy named after myself is an honour'

    Wales and Scotland will be competing today for the Doddie Weir Cup, in honour of the genial former Scotland lock.

    Many of you know will be aware that Weir, 48, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, a debilitating and terminal illness, last year.

    Allow the big man to explain how his name came to be attached to today's fixture, and how he is coping a year down the line.

  4. 'Intensity will be right up there' in 'proper Test'

    So will the occasion live up to the free-wheeling, try-laden encounters traditionally associated with this fixture, despite the novelty of the timing?

    Scotland centre Huw Jones reckons the "intensity will be right up there" given the "derby mentality" when the two Celtic nations meet.

    Wales head coach Warren Gatland, back at the helm after returning home last week following the death of his father, has promised this "will be a proper Test - I can guarantee that".

    The Principality Stadium may not be bursting to capacity, as would be usual, but around 60,000 fans are still expected at the Cardiff amphitheatre today.

  5. Wales v Scotland... in November?!

    What's that all about then?

    If you've not quite got your head around this fixture happening at this time of year, you're not alone. These two countries have only ever played each other once before outside the annual Home/Five/Six Nations Championship, in 123 previous meetings dating back to 1883.

    That was a World Cup warm-up Test in August 2003, which Wales won 23-9 in Cardiff. So an autumn encounter definitely feels a bit strange, doesn't it?

  6. Scotland will be hoping to record their first win in Wales since 2002 as the teams meet in Cardiff in the Doddie Weir Cup.
