We have a stoppage with a player from either side down.

It looks as though Joey Gatus' game is over - the teenage full-back for Cambridge has fashioned a sling from his shirt - looks like he's hurt his right shoulder.

Oxford are eight points up, they are in Cambridge's territory. They don't need to take any chances, they don't need to leave their foot or hand in there. Let them have the ball, because they [Cambridge] don't look like scoring.

    Oxford 17-9 Cambridge

You feel the next score will be absolutely key here.

If Cambridge can get within a converted try it will really ramp up this match - if Oxford can get across the Light Blue line again you have to think it'd be all over.

    Another turnover for Oxford.

If Cambridge head coach James Shanahan had any hair left he'd be tearing it out now.

Every time his side have a good bit of territory they give it away, sometimes through poor play, other time thanks to a great Dark Blue defence.

Meanwhile Oxford's George Robson comes off - the 33-year-old who won the 2012 Premiership with Harlequins has put in a decent shift - he can go back to his books and his MBA now!

It is too far for Cambridge, surely. Based on the lack of chances they created in the first half.

The conversion from Tom Humberstone is really well kicked to add two more points.

The crowd is pretty steady now, around 20,000. I think it's difficult because there's such tradition of playing the game here at Twickenham, and once you move it you will never get it back.

To get to come to Twickenham and play in this fixture is very special so I think it has its place. But I also understand the commercial pressures being put on clubs now.

Nick Koster, what a talisman. You can see when he starts to go forward, h's absolutely critical to how Cambridge are playing. When he's got his hands on the ball he is such a powerful force.

That try against the run of play ends the first half.

Cambridge have looked the better side, but Oxford have had the better chances.

It might not be pretty, but it is close and exciting!

    Dan Barley

Winger Dan Barley goes over in the right corner after a lovely bit of work by the Cambridge backs.

A lovely step by Ben Ransom gave him the space to go over.

The conversion is good as well.

Cambridge's scrum is again dominant and they win a penalty.

The Light Blues kick deep into Dark Blue territory, but Oxford are able to clear.

  20. 'Not as bad as it could be' for Oxfordpublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2018

    Oxford 3-9 Cambridge

    Brian Moore

Cambridge have been the better side, not by a huge margin, but definitely so. I think Oxford will consider that, although at the moment they might go in six points down, that is not as bad as it could have been.
