A fine win for Bath to really set them up well for a grudge match against Leicester after Christmas.

Wasps will be picking at the turkey quite forlornly after another defeat and a trip to Twickenham coming up.

Great win for Gloucester too. Never easy up at Newcastle and they are beginning to look very much like a top-four team.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young told BT Sport:

"We were very careless in lots of areas and as an 80 minutes we were very poor.

"We started pretty well but then lost composure, gave away penalties and turnovers.

"The substitutes had a big impact we can't be chasing games and we're digging ourselves a hole."

Bath director of rugby Todd Blackadder told BT Sport:

"It was a massive week, we knew it was a must-win game so really glad we got the win today.

"We've been building for a while but it hasn't always come off.

"I thought Freddie Burns was at his very best and he and Will Chudley had a platform to launch from.

"It's great to see Freddie when he's got that freedom to play with."

Bath captain Will Chudley told BT Sport:

"We just needed a win really. It wasn't pretty but we showed some endeavour, dug deep and got the result we needed."

Bath fly-half Freddie Burns told BT Sport:

"I'm so proud of the boys. We've been in a difficult place with some difficult results this season so to come here in front of 32,000 away fans and get the result and dig in the way we did means so much.

"I thought we were patient but we showed that when we want to play we're a decent team."

As we draw breath and another fine game of rugby, let's grab some post-match reaction.

Official attendance at the Ricoh is confirmed as 31,626 but this packed Wasps crowd won’t be getting an early Christmas present.

Their team have battled back well in this second period but it’s looking like a fourth defeat in a row for Dai Young’s side with four minutes left and a 10-point gap.

A bad Wasps error presents Bath with a scrum on the hosts' 22.

But a massive shove wins Wasps the penalty and the home side are not done yet.

Gloucester turn over the ball, it's booted into touch and the Cherry and Whites hang on!

The clock is red but still be play on. Falcons are getting closer!

Into the final minute at Kingston Park and Newcastle have a scrum inside the Gloucester half.

This one is not over!

Willie Le Roux drops the ball in midfield and then Bath's new props win a scrum penalty.

Wasps momentum killed and the home side have also lost Kieran Brooks to an ankle injury.

Is that the winning score for Gloucester?

It's a brilliant penalty by Billy Twelvetrees from near the right touchline but it is over.

Six minutes left for Newcastle to respond.

Newcastle are banging on the door near the Gloucester line as they search for a winning score.

But the visitors' defence holds firm and win a turnover penalty at the ruck.

The Cherry and Whites can clear their lines.

Bath defend the initial maul really well and then a furious tackle sees Wasps spill the ball.

Freddie Burns eases the pressure but danger not over.

Wasps win the scrum after an up and under. And then a penalty.

Into the corner of the 22 they go - not the best kick. Maul forms then Nathan Hughes makes two big carries.

A little space to the left and Elliot Daly sprints to within 10 metres. Bath didn't release the tackle.

This time Wasps are right in the corner.

Max Wright finds a hole and races up to the Wasps 22.

Penalty advantage being played and Semesa Rokoduguni is sent free up the right wing and almost to the line.

This time it doesn't take as many phases before Nathan Catt goes over.

But the TMO is utilised and Catt is found to have not released in the tackle before moving again to ground the ball.
