Again, it's the right hand side defence from England that was found wanting. It was extremely narrow, Eliot Daly got across but England were outnumbered. That was poor, and well recognised from Italy.

  2. 'Sloppy'published at 18:02 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

    England 36-14 Italy

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

That's nice patience from Italy. England have got a bit lazy the way they defended there.

Italy sent all their backs round to the left-hand side. As much as it was fleet of mind from the Italians, England had enough players to defend it.

If you're England defence coach John Mitchell, you're looking at that thinking it's sloppy.

  3. try

Converted try - England 36-14 Italypublished at 54 mins

    Luca Morisi (con Allan)

That was patient, clever play from Italy.

No whiteline fever, when they got close.

Instead they waited for England to commit numbers to the breakdown, Tommaso Allan spotted the short-staffed short side and flung a lovely air mail pass over Joe Cokanasiga for Luca Morisi to slide in for a try.

    Two more from Allan.

Colin Thomas: Grayson: 'A one-sided contest'.Moore: 'Italy will be reasonably happy'.Those two comments sum up the problem for Italy.

Karl: With relegation/promotion we'll just see Italy and Georgia swap every year. Pointless and damaging for both nations?

Emma, Cornwall: As it was International Women's Day yesterday, can we get a shout out for the England ladies who keep their Grand Slam dreams alive. Red Roses march on!

You certainly can, Emma. And if you want to read the match report from England women's win against Italy, head here.

  6. Replacementspublished at 48 mins

    England 36-7 Italy

Italy make a raft of changes, looking for the nitro boost to keep them from flagging in the final quarter.

On come David Sisi, Jake Pollendri, Cherif Traore and Leonardo Ghiraldini.

Off go Dean Budd, Sebastian Negri, Andrea Lovotti and Luca Bigi.

  7. 'Great skills and execution'published at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

    England 36-7 Italy

    Brian Moore
    Former England hooker

Not only did England recognize where the space was, you have to have the skills to execute. And for a hooker to throw a pass like that - he does extremely well. All hookers can do that...

  8. 'England stroll in'published at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

    England 36-7 Italy

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

There's no way that Italy can stop England when they go through that many phases. How many times have we seen England stroll in?

It shows the strength of this England side and, unfortunately, the weakness of Italy.

    That looked alright to me.

Jonny May stretches his foot into touch to nudge on a bouncing ball.

But the touch judge rules that his other boot was in contact with the whitewash and signals for the line-out...

    There is the loose pass...

Owen Farrell hacks ahead as he pounces first.

Tommaso Allan covers back, but Italy have lost 50m of hard-won possession.

  12. Postpublished at 42 mins

    England 31-7 Italy

Italy have started the second half well. Luca Morisi burrows up to within 15m as England stand out of the breakdown and spread wide.

Can the visitors pick a path through the heavy traffic?

  13. Dan Robson still on the benchpublished at 17:45 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

    England 31-7 Italy

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Eddie Jones is keeping Ben Youngs on out of spite now. Any other scrum-half who has been in the Six Nations squad for this period of time, given these conditions in this situation - they are on the field right now.

We are back under way as Tommaso Allan drops out and George Kruis drops a simple catch.

Nick Powell: RE 17:28, used to be all for relegation but Italy deserve credit. Pushed their first three opponents close and have been really unlucky with some refereeing calls that’s helped England build a big lead. Italy comfortably beat Georgia last autumn, so case closed for now.

Anon: Fun fact- Tommy Allan, the Italian fly-half, played for Wasps Academy in 2011, the same season Daly was playing for both the Wasps Academy and the first team, while the Wasps first team included Nick Berry, who’s refereeing today's match!!

Italy have been fighting a rearguard action.

Props to Sebastian Negri for the first 40 minutes though.

The Treviso man leads the Italy stats in carries (13) and tackles (10).

Poor old Angelo Esposito has missed three of his four tackles though/

Alex Jones: Surely time for a European play-off for 6th place in the Six Nations and make 6th place a relegation/promotion battle.. can’t continue like this. Italy have more wooden spoons than a baker's pantry.

  19. Singing the bluespublished at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

    Tom Fordyce
BBC chief sports writer at Twickenham

A miserable first half for Italy, England's heavyweights leaving them reeling on the ropes. Twickenham filled with the sort of contented buzz that usually follows a large and satisfying dinner. It has barely been a contest, which - in a week when relegation from the Six Nations has been openly discussed - is damning for the perpetually struggling visitors.
