  1. All down to the final weekendpublished at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Glasgow 33-24 Cardiff

It's been another terrific day of Champions Cup rugby. Glasgow put recent Pro14 defeats behind them to register a huge win to keep their quarter-final hopes alive.

Next weekend sees the final round of pool matches and it is all to play for for the two Scottish sides.

Edinburgh host Vern Cotter's Montpellier at Murrayfield knowing a win books their place in the last eight and top spot in the pool.

That would also ensure Glasgow's passage into the quarter-finals. If not, Warriors may need at least a point away to Saracens on Saturday.

We'll be back with coverage of both those huge matches. Join us then.

    Thanks for your company today.

  2. 'We know how to keep it tense' - Renniepublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Glasgow 33-24 Cardiff

Glasgow head coach Dave Rennie was a bit tense in those final minutes as Cardiff threatened to spoil the party. He told BBC Scotland: "It wasn't easy tonight. It took us a while to get going but really rapt with the men up front. I thought the scrum, line-out and drive set the platform.

"I thought they attacked really well. A couple of really soft ones in a among that, and we know how to keep it tense don't we? In the end we got the tries we needed. We've got a few things to tidy up."

On their chances of reaching the quarter-finals Rennie said: "I think if Edinburgh can beat Montpellier next week we're safe. So we'll be cheering on our mates down the road. But if not, it might come down to us and Edinburgh."

  3. Pool 3 with one round to gopublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Glasgow 33-24 Cardiff Blues

We're furiously trying to work out the permutations for Glasgow ahead of next weekend's final Pool 3 fixture away to Saracens.

Our initial thoughts are that if Edinburgh beat Montpellier at Murrayfield on Friday night, Glasgow will be through before they take to the field at Allianz Park on Saturday.

You're never quite sure whether we can win these tight games. So I think on the back of the last three weeks it was important to win. What we're missing at the moment is a couple of organisers and communicators in defence. We did enough.

  6. 'Glasgow are better than this'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

Glasgow made hard work of it, conceding a lot of tries and missing tackles. They got their five tries, that's great. They are very much alive in terms of a quarter-final place. But it was a stuttering performance. I thought some of what Cardiff did was excellent.

  7. Job done for Glasgowpublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Glasgow 33-24 Cardiff

They were made to work for it but Glasgow got the win and the bonus point that keeps them right in the hunt for the last eight of the Champions Cup.

Grant Stewart, Scott Cummings, Chris Fusaro, Oli Kebble and George Horne all crossed for Warriors, while Cardiff stayed in it through scores from Owen Lane (2), Harri Millard and Josh Navidi.

Not a vintage Glasgow performance but they did what they set out to do.

  8. Full-time - Glasgow 33-24 Cardiffpublished at 80 mins

Glasgow are awarded a penalty, and suddenly it all kicks off.

Things soon calm down and Stuart Hogg boots the ball into touch to bring the match to an end.

  9. Saracens through to the last eightpublished at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

    FT: Lyon 10-28 Saracens

Saracens have secured their place in the quarter-finals a game early, beating Lyon 28-10 in France with a bonus point.

That moves the English champions on to 23 points, which guarantees they will secure one of the three best runners-up spots at least.

Glasgow could yet deny them top spot in Pool Three if they win in north London next Saturday.

Great scrum, just got the nudge. Wee George Horne just does enough, he shrugs the shoulder and drops the first defender. Game's a bogey now.

    George Horne

    That will be that.

The scrum goes down but the ball is with substitute George Horne at the base.

He picks up and evades a dreadful tackle attempt from Tomos Williams to coast over for the try.

Having kicked like a dream all day, Brandon Thomson evokes memories of his horror miss against Benetton last weekend with a similarly shocking effort.

Tim Swinson goes for the line and has several Cardiff bodies clinging onto him.

He thinks he's got the ball down at the base of the post.

  14. Knocking at the doorpublished at 76 mins

    Glasgow 28-24 Cardiff

Glasgow are picking and going 5m from the Cardiff line.

Can they find a way over to finish this?

  15. Running down the clockpublished at 74 mins

    Glasgow 28-24 Cardiff

Glasgow have responded well to that try.

DTH van der Merwe and others go at the Cardiff defensive line before Glasgow get a maul rumbling for a good 20m before the referee blows for a penalty against Cardiff.

It's all about managing the clock now and Glasgow kick to the corner.

It was a simple try. Two defenders have bought the decoy run. Then it's just an inside ball. Good execution but Glasgow could have defended it a bit better.

  17. try

    Owen Lane

    GAME. ON.

Cardiff absolutely carve Glasgow open off first phase ball from the scrum.

The Warriors defence flies up on Jarrod Evans but that plays right into his hands as he slips a beautiful inside ball to Owen Lane arriving like a steam train to go in under the posts.

Huge few minutes coming up now.

  18. Cardiff coming backpublished at 70 mins

    Glasgow 28-17 Cardiff

Cardiff have claimed the initiative here and if they can score in the next few minutes it will set up a very nervy finish at Scotstoun.

The impact of the Blues bench has been evident, with Warriors being made to work very hard in defence.

  19. Glasgow 'disappointing' in defencepublished at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

Really poor defence from Glasgow. The biggest disappointment from this afternoon, is the quality of the collisions and the tackle. It means we've been on the back foot. Great execution though from Cardiff.

  20. try

    Josh Navidi

The Blues will not go away.

Willis Halaholo has been a constant threat in the midfield and carries well again.

Harri Millard skips away from poor Brandon Thomson and Sam Johnson tackles and pops the pass away to Josh Navidi to go over in the corner.

Jarrod Evans strikes a sweet conversion to add the extras.
