This is a big night for centre Duncan Taylor and Blade Thomson.
Both players have been denied to Scotland for a long time through injury, and yet a good performance tonight could see them go straight into the side for the World Cup opener against Ireland in just over two weeks.
Early signs are good, with both players making early inroads into the Georgian defence with strong carries.

Scotland get the scrum penalty. No idea what for. Neither does our pundit Peter Wright such is the mystery of the international scrum.
Scotland gather their line-out but then Ali Price fumbles at the base of the ruck. Very sloppy start. By both sides.
Scotland 0-0 Georgia
Gordon Reid is pinged at the breakdown and now Georgia are into the Scotland 22 with a line-out. This time they win it and Beka Gigashvili charges through the middle of the pitch, but he knocks on.
A let off for Scotland. So close to a score for Georgia.
Scotland 0-0 Georgia
The Georgian line-out goes awry and Ali Price box-kicks Scotland out of trouble. Darcy Graham then bundles Giorgi Nemsadze, a second-row twice his size, into touch.Power.

Quote MessageGood start by Scotland, good carries and a good box kick and a good break by Duncan Taylor which will settle his nerves.
Scotland 0-0 Georgia
An early sign of what both Duncan Taylor and Blade Thomson can do. Both make line breaks as the hosts get into the Georgian half. But a neck roll gives the visitors the penalty.
Scotland 0-0 Georgia

Tonight's referee is Frenchman Romain Poite. He's not the most-loved man in Scotland, after Greig Laidlaw's remarks following the Six Nations defeat to Ireland earlier this year. "He doesn't seem to like us, Romain," the Clermont scrum-half said.
Let's see if there's any dramas tonight. At least the referee won't have to deal with Laidlaw, who's not in the squad...

Much of the debate about the World Cup selection surrounded the midfield. Chris Harris and Pete Horne made the cut at the expense of Rory Hutchinson and Huw Jones, with Sam Johnson and Duncan Taylor the perceived first choice.
Gregor Townsend seems to have struggled to navigate his way through the wealth of talent Scotland have in those positions. In his 26 Tests in charge, he has started 16 different combinations in the midfield. Even allowing for injury, form and tinkering, this seems quite high. Will Johnson and Taylor be Scotland's combination from now on? This will be their first Test start alongside one another.

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend wants to see his side step up again despite leaving some front-liners at home. "As we've got through our games, the players have improved," he told BBC Scotland. "We saw a very good performance last week. We will be tested a lot more tonight. Georgia will be match fit now and will know the type of plays we'll be running so it's going to be a bigger challenge."
On the much-talked about centre-pairing of Sam Johnson and Duncan Taylor, Townsend said: "Both very good attackers, take the ball to the line, run good lines and can play an offloading game too. We'll see if they combine well, they've combined well in training. But really it's just about how they perform themselves."

Quote MessageI’m really torn here because I don’t think he should be captain of Scotland. His indiscretions in the past should deny him the right to be captain of Scotland. I know it's controversial and people will think I'm an idiot for saying it.

Ryan Wilson will captain Scotland for the first time tonight on his 45th cap. A larger than life character whose fighting spirit is highly valued by the management team, he has a chance to stake a claim for a starting back-row spot for the World Cup opener against Ireland, in a highly competitive area of the pitch.
Wilson was camping with his family when he got the call that he'd be in the squad. You can read his piece with Tom English here, where he describes celebrating by cooking a pot of soup. Nice.

The players lining up in navy blue tonight are no longer playing for World Cup places, injuries aside, after the 31-man squad was named on Tuesday.
Most of the debate was around who would be the four centres, with in-form Rory Hutchinson and Huw Jones the ones to miss out.

As our rugby reporter Andy Burke so eloquently puts here, Gregor Townsend will want two things from tonight, improvement and to avoid any further injuries.
Unsurprisingly, front-liners Stuart McInally, John Barclay, Finn Russell, Stuart Hogg et al don't feature tonight. Only two players in the starting XV have over 50 caps, while eight have fewer than 20.
While the fight for selection to be on the plane might be done, watch out for the performances of wingers Darcy Graham and Tommy Seymour, who might just be competing for the final back-three spot to face Ireland. Two back-row places alongside Hamish Watson you would think are also there to be fought for.
