If Ireland were playing like they did against Scotland, they would be 60 points up and the game would be long gone.

    Ireland 28-0 Russia

Russia have made 142 tackles, missing just 10% - a better accuracy rate than Ireland have managed with a much lighter workload.

It has been a superb performance from the underdogs.

With a bit of better backfield cover they could have prevented at least two of Ireland's tries which came from smart grubber kicks.

Ireland have dropped off sharply since Johnny Sexton's withdrawal at half-time.

    Ireland 28-0 Russia

Ireland are starting to apply pressure more consistently as Russia tire.

But another turnover for the Bears! They are really smart over the floor.

Vasily Artemyev boots deep and Ireland will have to earn those yards all over again.

Should be a fifth try, somehow it isn't.

CJ Stander rampaged deep into the Russia 22m, leaving one Russia defender flat on his back.

But from the breakdown on the Russian line, the red shirts swarm to fill the gaps and eventually dislodge the ball from Iain Henderson's grasp as he attempts to dive over.

A half-hearted chorus of Fields of Athenry swirls around Kobe.

It has not been a performance to really re-establish Ireland's credentials as title contenders just yet..

Ireland scored in the 12th minute when Johnny Sexton kicked through for Peter O'Mahony.

We have waited 48 minutes for Ireland to do it again and realise that that is where the space is. It sums Ireland up at the moment.

Converted try- Ireland 28-0 Russiapublished at 62 mins

    Andrew Conway (con Carty)

Bonus point bagged. And in some style.

Jack Carty chips over the top near halfway, Keith Earls gathers on the bounce and flips a pass out to Andrew Conway.

And his fellow wing is gone, cantering through the finishing arch to leave Carty with an easy conversion shot.

Ireland have changed their entire front row with Tadhg Furlong, Andrew Porter and Sean Cronin all on.

And Iain Henderson is on as well, replacing Jean Kleyn.

There is still a bit of work for Ireland to do in this encounter.

The four points for the win are surely in the bag, the bonus for four tries is still a score away.

Johnny Sexton is reportedly applying ice to his thigh on the bench.

Ireland play Samoa on 12 October after this. Do you risk him?

Ramil Gaisin gives it plenty of welly, but needs plenty more accuarcy.

The ball veers left like a shanked tee shot and misses by a distance.

Big from Russia flanker Tagir Gadzhiev, who isolated Jack Carty and limpets over the top of the tackled 10.

Ireland's support can't shift him and Ramil Gaisin is going to take on a shot at goal...

  13. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Ireland 21-0 Russia

The game has lost some of its shape and rhythm.

The referee's microphone picks up Peter O'Mahony shouting, "Rhys! Where are you going?!" as his fellow flanker charges into a stationary breakdown in vain hope of forcing a counter-ruck.

Russia put in to a scrum on halfway after Jordan Larmour knocks on attempting to claim a high ball.

    Luke Fitzgerald
Former Ireland back on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Russia were struggling with 15 so losing a man is going to be a real problem for them. That actually looked like a really difficult decision because John Ryan completely falls to the ground.

But on balance, there is a duty of care to players because concussion is such a serious issue. It's probably the right call.

    Ireland 21-0 Russia

Trouble in the post for Russia replacement Andrey Ostrikov.

The second row is picked out on the video clearing out the ruck and clothes-lining a dipping John Ryan as he does so.

It wasn't malicious, there were mitigating circumstances in Ryan's bodyheight but it was high.

Ten minutes on the naughty step.

  17. Replacementpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 3 October 2019

Ireland hold Russia off the floor to earn a scrum, but Rob Kearney's clearing kick is right down the throat of Vasily Artemyev.

The Russia full-back, who went to school in Dublin, wallops a field-gun reply back into the Ireland 22m to give Joe Schmidt's side possession but at the cost of considerable territory.

More joy for Russia, this time at scrum-time as Ireland's Niall Scannell pops up and out of the front-row like a whack-a-mole.

A kick down into the Ireland 22m and the underdogs have turned things around from being in the shadow of their own posts a few minutes ago.
