So England get their Autumn Nations Cup campaign off to a winning start. It would have been a seismic shock if they hadn't to be honest.

But they turned in a pretty muscular performance against pretty beefy opposition as Jamie George scored three tries.

Elsewhere today England's Women came on strong in the second half to see off their French counterparts.

You can watch highlights of that one right here.

See you back here next weekend...which looks a little something like this.

    21 November: Group A: England v Ireland (Twickenham) 15:00

    21 November: Group A: Wales v Georgia (Parc y Scarlets) 17:15

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, England head coach Eddie Jones said: "Good tough game Georgia obviously came out and wanted to play a certain way, and we wanted to prove a point that they wouldn't be able to out scrum us.

"When you play in these conditions it is enormously important and if you get an opportunity to keep the ball, it's a way of scoring tries. We are used to playing any conditions and we can adapt to whatever is going on.

"We didn't allow them to get into the game and the underdog has been able to get into the game a lot in sport recently, but we didn't allow them to upset us. We would have liked to have executed a bit better because we maybe left 20 points out there.

"We don't practice to be inaccurate. We are very much a team that is rebuilding. Ollie [Lawrence] has never played with {Henry} Sladey, who hasn't played much at 12 with Owen [Farrell] at 10. Those combinations come with more time and the boys will get that time.

"We are trying to create depth in every position. Jack [Willis] and Max [Malins] showed they are capable of playing test rugby, so now they ave to fight hard to keep getting selected.

"Ireland will come here with a plan. The last few games we have probably had the edge so they will be motivated to change that."

Georgia captain Merab Sharikadze on Amazon Prime: "We fought well, this was much better than against Scotland, even though we played one of the best sides in the world.

"They are one of the best at building up pressure, every time we had the ball we were under so much pressure. It was very good experience and I hope that the next game we will be better at handling pressure.

"If we want to improve, that's the key. Other wise you can't, it doesn;t matter how you train or what you do it doesn't make a difference if you don't play againt these kind of teams

I think the Ireland game will be a test. Ireland have shown they have more strength in depth than maybe we thought they did.

They have a problem at fly half but the contrast next week, is that Ireland will match England up front for longer.

There will be parity for longer than Georgia provided so the emphasis will be on the back line to back up the work of the forwards.

  7. 'Tough'published at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2020

    England 40-0 Georgia

England captain Owen Farrell speaking to Amazon Prime: "It was tough, tough conditions against a tough opposition. When the weather is like this and its an up front challenge against Georgia it is tough, but I thought the forwards stood up to it.

"Georgia pride themselves on the set piece but so do we, to do what we did in the first 10 minutes and the amount of scrums we had and the amount of opportunities we had was brilliant.

"There was a lot of good stuff out there but we will take a look at being more clinical. It's another big game to look forward to against Ireland, we are privileged to be playing at the moment so we look forward to it."

  9. 'You can't give it the big one after maul tries!'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2020

    England 40-0 Georgia

England hooker Jamie George, speaking to Amazon Prime: "It was a great team performance. We fully aware of their ability up front, how much pride they take in their set-piece and how physical they would be. Most pleasing for me was forwards-wise we stepped up to the plate.

"It's something we pride ourselves upon, we are back here at Twickenham, missing the crowd massively, but we constantly try to push it with our set-piece so it was great to get over the line.

"You can't give it the big one after maul tries! I was happy keeping it low key."

Wayne Pivac is trying to change the way Wales are playing and it hasn't worked so far. They have lost six games from six, but he is under pressure because of results.

England have won the game so I'm sure Eddie will say 'which way you want it?'
