Andrew: Dupont is a supreme talent. A joy to watch play.

Jon: At what point do the powers that be say that Italy need to be dropped/replaced from the Six Nations? Feel really sorry for them but going backwards in development

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC 5 Radio Live Sports Extra

France were out of the box nice and easy and scored a straightforward try from their first attack, but they have not had to work too hard for their other scores because of mistakes by Italy.

There have been some bright spots for Italy and they did score a try which was chalked off for a forward pass.

But France are very much in second gear.

James: Did Tom watch the Autumn Nations? Georgia put up far less of a fight than Italy do. Give the Italians a break, they've dominated possession, just need to learn how to finish...and defend

  6. Half-time - Italy 3-24 Francepublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

France have been clinical where Italy simply haven't.

The visitors are well on course for an opening victory after three first-half tries. Italy have shown glimpses but they just make too many errors.

    Italy 3-24 France

The theme of Italian mistakes goes on.

It's positive play again as the ball is well offloaded out of a couple tackles, but the ball is eventually knocked forward.

It almost has a feel of inevitability about it, and France can clear their lines.

  8. Replacementpublished at 35 mins

    Italy 3-24 France

The disappointment for Italy continues as Paolo Garbisi trundles off the field, with what looks like a wrist injury.

He is replaced by Carlo Canna.

That was borderline and a shame because it was a great pass from Varney.

  10. No try - Italy 3-24 Francepublished at 31 mins

The pass by Stephen Varney to Monty Ioane was indeed forward and the try is chalked off.

It's a real shame because that might have just given Italy a glimmer of hope, but what's fair is fair!

    On we go...

Now then, have Italy hit back?

It looks like a forward pass in the build-up but Monty Ioane crosses the line.

This will be checked, I'm sure...

    Arthur Vincent (con Matthieu Jalibert)

Antoine Dupont isn't done creating tries yet!

Itay throw a loose pass and France hack the ball deep into Azzurri territory. the bounce is kind for France and it's gathered by Johan Meyer, who offloads to the litte scrum-half.

He could probably throw the pass earlier but he rides the tackle and just pops it over his shoulder for Arthur Vincent to dot down under the posts.

Matthieu Jalibert makes no mistake with the conversion.

Converted Try - Italy 3-17 Francepublished at 26 mins

    Gael Fickou (con Matthieu Jalibert)

    Too easy!

France have the rolling maul close to the Italian line before Antoine Dupont sprinkles a bit of magic on the contest.

The scrum-half just prods the ball through and the onrushing Gael Fickou is on hand to collect the ball and score the visitors' second try.

    Matthieu Jalibert adds the extras.

    James: Come on Italy!

Tom: It's been said a thousand times, but I'll say it again. Why are Italy still in the Six Nations? They don't improve and are every team's cricket score. Let someone like Georgia have a shot!

    Italy 3-10 France

Italy are banging on the French door again!

Paolo Garbisi throws the ball back inside to Luca Sperandio, but he is well tackled by the organised blue line.

It's eventually knocked forward off the shoulder of Michele Lamaro inside the France 10, but it's encouraging by the hosts.

    Italy 3-10 France

France look to hit back straight away as they push the ball through the hands.

Teddy Thomas puts boot to ball, but it bounces off an Italian boot and hits him in the face.

That would have woken the France wing up!

The scoreboard is against them but Italy are throwing the ball around confidently and really having a go.

They roll through the phases, gaining a few yards at a time.

France concede the penalty in front of the sticks and this could be a chance to register some points.

    Italy 0-10 France

Italy make a hash of the line-out but France knock the ball on as they rush through.

Monty Ioane scoops the loose ball with one hand and beats a couple of defenders before play is brought back for the knock-on.

    Matthieu Jalibert

Matthieu Jalibert has started the game well and he makes it two from two off the tee.

The 22-year-old is showing that he can fill the boots of the injured Romain Ntamack more than capably.
