Glasgow 6-3 Edinburgh
We're in for yet another scrum reset here. Dull stuff. Though there was a bit of niggle after one of them which sparked a bit of life into things. Referee Mike Adamson wasn't too impressed.

Quote MessageGood scrum execution from Edinburgh. Getting a one on one down the short side and caught Glasgow offside. It's the first chance they've had to attack and get three points on the board.
Jaco Van der Walt
An immediate response from Edinburgh after Glasgow are penalised for offside!
It's their first entry to Glasgow's 22 and they come away with points. Efficient.

Quote MessageNow that was a good kick. If you look at the flags and the conditions, it's not easy to get a good kick out there.
Ross Thompson
Another fine strike from the young 10. Just short of 40m, about 10m in from the right and he slots it.
An excellent effort. It's been all Glasgow!
Glasgow 3-0 Edinburgh
Another scrum goes Glasgow's way. Thompson is lining up another kick.
Given how they were dominated in the scrum last time out, this is a really strong response. Long way to go though.

Quote MessageEdinburgh just look so comfortable when that ball is in the middle of the park. They're getting that width really well which means when the balls going to the back. Where they are getting caught tight is when Glasgow get to a touch line, Edinburgh are chasing a little bit.
Glasgow 3-0 Edinburgh
Glasgow attack with speed again, but Edinburgh's defence is quick off the mark and push them back. A forced offload from Huw Jones leads to a knock-on, so Edinburgh will have the scrum just inside their own half.
A good contest thus far!
Glasgow 3-0 Edinburgh
Well that's a turn up for the books, a brilliant scrum from Glasgow gets them another penalty just inside Edinburgh's half. Their pack roar in delight.
Ross Thompson kicks the penalty up to the 22.

Quote MessageIt's a good start from Ross Thompson. Getting his first kick in the game. It's probably easier for the guys playing their first game, there's not a lot of expectation. When you've played your 100th game that's when the pressure comes on.
Glasgow 3-0 Edinburgh
Some points before the 65th minute is already an improvement...
Ross Thompson
A fine strike from about 35m from Thompson on his first Glasgow start.
The home side with an ideal start.
Glasgow 0-0 Edinburgh
A good start by Glasgow, some sharp attacking play. A carry from Zander Fagerson ends with Edinburgh being done for not rolling away.
Ross Thompson will have the chance to get some early points on the board!

We're up and running at Scotstoun!

Quote MessageI keep hearing people say I want to see an exciting game of rugby. But with the nature of the season, I think it's going to be a while until we see that.
The sight of Fijian second-row Leone Nakarawa on the bench will warm the hearts of Glasgow fans.
The former European player of the year hasn't played rugby for nearly a year, though, due to a mixture of injury, personal reasons, and of course the Covid-19 pandemic.
Head coach Danny Wilson says it will take him a while to get up and running again, but a player of his quality could make an impact from the bench.
Glenn Bryce is one of the latest departures from Glasgow and, according to his social media post, it came against his wishes.
Warriors head coach Danny Wilson didn't want to lose him either, but Bryce claims Scottish Rugby "didn't think it was a worthwhile investment" retaining him.
It seems a strange one given Bryce's form in the last couple of seasons, and that he can play in a few positions and provide excellent cover in international windows.
However, given the SRU faces another huge financial hit with a crowd-less Six Nations approaching, you can understand they have to make cuts somewhere.

One of the oft-cited positives of Glasgow's thin squad is the opportunity to give young players a chance.
Certainly playing in such a difficult season has the potential to make or break careers, and Glasgow's side is scattered with some promising players.
Scotland under-20 star Rufus McLean makes his debut on the wing, while Ross Thompson will appear for his first start at 10.
Academy players Ollie Smith and Tom Lambert could also make their first Glasgow appearances from the bench.

Given the (recently announced) departures of Duhan van der Merwe and Andrew Davidson, Edinburgh fans needed some good news that suggested the club still had ambition to win things. And, boy, have they got it.
Back-row talismans Hamish Watson and Jamie Ritchie have agreed long-term (Scottish Rugby's bizarre new policy of not announcing the length of contracts means we don't exactly know just how long) deals.
The pair have probably been Scotland's most consistent performers over the last 18 months, and will be in contention for Lions selection if they continue their form into the Six Nations.
Plenty of other clubs will have been after their services, so it is a real fillip for Edinburgh to keep them.
