Summary

  • Glasgow v Edinburgh - game rearranged from last week due to frozen pitch

  • Edinburgh beat Glasgow 10-7 in last meeting

  1. Desperate Glasgowpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

Both sides are pretty desperate for victories given their lowly league positions, but Glasgow's need is arguably greater.

In his first season as head coach, Danny Wilson has had to endure the loss of players to international duty, a Covid outbreak, cancellations, and players departing an already thin squad.

All that translates into two wins all season, and bottom spot in Conference A. Victory tonight would at least provide some encouragement in an otherwise brutal campaign.

  2. We want tries...right?published at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill was in particularly bullish mood in his press conference yesterday, suggesting if we want entertainment we should go to the (closed) theatres.

His point, obviously, is that it's all about winning. He's right of course, but we would all like to see a bit more rugby played than in Edinburgh's 10-7 win a fortnight ago. It was 0-0 after 65 minutes in that one, if anyone can remember...

  4. Third time lucky?published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (17:15)

These sides were supposed to meet twice over the Christmas period, but due to two postponements, we're only getting the game played now.

First there was a Covid-19 outbreak at Glasgow, then last week's meeting was called off 30 minutes before kick-off due to a frozen pitch at Scotstoun.

Let's hope for no hiccups tonight!
