Try - Glasgow 10-0 Edinburghpublished at 14 mins

    Cole Forbes

    What an angle!

The Kiwi full-back slices through a gap between Jamie Hodgson and WP Nel to score. Ali Price the provider, but what a lovely line from Forbes.

Ross Thompson adds the extras. We now have our first scrap, too...

Warriors taking points when they have the option. Glasgow more clinical with their opportunity to get points on the board.

  3. Glasgow momentumpublished at 13 mins

    Glasgow 3-0 Edinburgh

Kyle Steyn gets himself over the ball after Bill Mata was thumped backwards. The referee's whistle sounds, it's another Glasgow penalty.

Great hit from Tom Gordon. Steyn was alert. Warriors are now deep in Edinburgh territory.

  4. Penalty - Glasgow 3-0 Edinburghpublished at 11 mins

    Ross Thompson

A bit of a gift for Glasgow as Jamie Hodgson is penalised for straying offside.

Thompson steps up to knock over a good three points. Glasgow lead.

Good attack from Edinburgh. Keeping ball, getting a bit of variety to their attack. Van der Merwe involved a couple of times which is good to see.

  6. Thompson to the rescuepublished at 9 mins

    Glasgow 0-0 Edinburgh

Edinburgh's attack lets them down again as they fail to find a bit of spark. Much better defending from Glasgow than they showed against Benetton.

Young fly-half Ross Thompson rips the ball, then gets it a phase later to thump the ball clear down the pitch.

Magic stuff from the callow Warrior.

  7. Edinburgh motoringpublished at 7 mins

    Glasgow 0-0 Edinburgh

Edinburgh do well to go through the phases, but Glasgow hold firm reasonably well, only for Fraser Brown to be penalised at a ruck.

The visitors prod the ball up to the 5m line. Chance here.

  8. Getting heatedpublished at 3 mins

    Glasgow 0-0 Edinburgh

Nice stuff from Glasgow fly-half Ross Thompson as he takes the ball to the line down the left and feeds Nick Grigg, but the centre knocks on, and the home side are then pinged at the scrum.

Already getting feisty, by the way. Referee Adam Jones could be a busy man this evening...

We just talked about professional rugby players and basics then Chamberlain kicks it out in the full, not a great start for Edinburgh. Poor kick-off.

  10. Sloppy startpublished at 1 min

    Glasgow 0-0 Edinburgh

Poor start for Edinburgh as Nathan Chamberlain's restart goes out on the full.

Glasgow get the scrum on halfway. Hopefully not a portent of what's to come in terms of quality.

Right here we go. A glorious night in Glasgow.

Who will be walking away with the 1872 Cup? Nathan Chamberlain kicks things off for Edinburgh.

  13. Cavalry return for Edinburghpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (20:15)

It was a young Edinburgh side that beat Zebre last time out, but unsurprisingly the experienced players return for this one.

Pierre Schoeman, David Cherry and WP Nel form an all new front row, and Mark Bennett and Duhan van der Merwe come into the back line.

Glasgow should be embarrassed about their last performance against Benetton. It was a disgrace. They were a joke.

  15. Glasgow need responsepublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (20:15)

Glasgow were absolutely embarrassed by previously winless Benetton in their last outing. They were thumped 46-19, conceding six tries along the way.

Fans were rightly livid with the display. A big performance is required tonight.

  16. What's the point?published at 20:02 British Summer Time 7 May 2021

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (20:15)

It's a blunt question, but one worth asking. The Rainbow Cup was brought in to give the South African sides the Bulls, Sharks, Stormers and Lions, a chance at competitive action as a pre-cursor to joining the league next season.

Covid-19 put paid to that, so the European sides are competing against themselves once more. Leinster have already been crowned as Pro14 champions, which begs the question about how which this all really means.

    Still, it's a derby.

Hamish Watson's just got a bit more of everything. It will be interesting to see where he ends up in test time. That one of the interesting things, about the combinations and how Gatland and his coaches pick his team and his squad.

Eight, yes EIGHT Scotland players (injuries aside) will be travelling to South Africa for the Lions tour next month. It's recognition for Scotland's recent improvement.

Five of them play for Glasgow and Edinburgh, with Warriors' duo Ali Price and Zander Fagerson joining Edinburgh trio Hamish Watson, Rory Sutherland and Duhan van der Merwe in the 36-man group.

A good news story for Scottish rugby. Who says Warren Gatland hates Scots, eh?
