    England 7-0 Australia

Australia get a line-out in a decent position, but it is not straight by Adiana Talakai and possession is ceded to England.

If the underdogs are to pull off an upset, they need to cut out this sloppiness.

    England 7-0 Australia

Somehow the rain has got heavier.

Australia are really struggling with their handling, just about every high kick from England has been fumbled so far. A clear tactic to pursue.

The control from Sarah Hunter was phenomenal, that's hours and hours of practice, but that was a front-row score. They were fantastic there with the drive forward.

It had to be the record breaker!

England drive under the posts from another scrum, and their captain on her 138th appearance is the woman to ground the ball.

    Emily Scarratt converts.

    England 0-0 Australia

A handling error by Australia results in a knock-on and gives England a scrum in an attacking position.

Zoe Harrison attempts a clever grubber kick to try and pierce the Wallaroos defensive line, but it stands strong for now.

England have been working on their variety this World Cup, looking to rely less on their driving maul.

In this weather, though, they can surely only rely on their power up front.

    England 0-0 Australia

The first maul of the game takes England into the Australia half. England have rapid wingers able to score from inside their own half, but their rolling maul has been their most reliable source of tries in recent years, and will be key today given the conditions.

The weather will be significant today. England's forward pack is their superpower and I think the weather has really fallen into their hands. This isn't a day for trying to run the ball through the hands.

The players are aquaplaning across the grass!

From the sounds of the anthem, this is pretty much a home crowd for England. There are no shortage of shirts and flags in the stand.

Zoe Harrison had a rough start to her World Cup career against Fiji but she was fantastic against France the way she controlled the game with her kicking and she's starting to really grow in the 10 shirt.

England were wary of Australia's pace of play but this weather is surely going to nullify that threat.

A nice day for the Red Roses forwards to get stuck in and grind out a few more tries from their driving maul.

Seventeen of England's tries came from their line-out in the pool stage - more than double any other team at this World Cup. That stat may shoot up further today...

  20. New Zealand growing into World Cuppublished at 01:19 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2022

Yesterday I was in Whangarei watching New Zealand's quarter-final victory against Wales.

England became firm favourites to win the World Cup when they claimed back-to-back record victories against the Black Ferns in November 2021.

But the New Zealand side that has been growing through this tournament looks very different to the one that suffered those defeats.

Things are going to get tasty over the next couple of weeks.
