Both teams are wearing special mouthguards that contain head-impact monitors during today's match.

It marks a significant shift towards collecting data for women after studies which have shown they are twice as likely as men to suffer concussions.

Earlier today, World Rugby also announced a new women's player welfare steering group that would work on initiatives designed specifically to keep female players safe.

New Zealand are a relatively unknown entity given they have not played a Test in two years because of the coronavirus pandemic and four debutants have been named in the starting XV.

Former volleyball international Kelsie Wills earns her first Black Ferns cap alongside Alana Bremner, Dhys Faleafaga and Renee Holmes.

There are a further five uncapped players on the bench and New Zealand are without the experienced Portia Woodman and Kelly Brazier due to injury.

Captain Les Elder plays her first Test since the birth of her daughter in 2020.

New Zealand: Holmes; Wickliffe, Fluhler, Alley, Leti-l'iga; Demant, Cocksedge; Love, Ngata-Aerengamate, Nelson, Blackwell, Wills, Bremner, Elder (capt), Faleafaga.

Replacements: Houpapa-Barrett, Murray, Itunu, Mikaele-Tu'u, Simon, Bayler, Maliepo, Brooker.

All eyes will be on England's Holly Aitchison today as the outside centre steps into some very big shoes.

The sevens player makes her XVs debut and fills the void left by World Player of the Year Emily Scarratt, who is out with a broken leg and hopes to return for April's Women's Six Nations.

There has also been a late change for the Red Roses with inside centre Amber Reed - who was supposed to take on the vice-captaincy from Scarratt - pulling out because of a hamstring injury.

Lagi Tuima will start in place of Reed, with Sarah McKenna replacing Tuima on the bench and Poppy Cleall vice-captain.

England: Kildunne; Thompson, Aitchison, Tuima, Dow; Harrison, MacDonald; Botterman, Davies, Bern, P Cleall (vice-capt), Ward, Aldcroft, Packer, Hunter (capt).

Replacements: Cokayne, Cornborough, Muir, Millar-Mills, Matthews, Infante, Rowland, McKenna.

Weather has been a big topic of conversation around a packed Sandy Park.

Rain was forecast but after a downpour this morning, it's been pretty sunny in Exeter today. The rain is still holding off for now but there are some dark clouds on the horizon and the weather forecast can't make its mind up about what we can expect.

  7. Can England maintain winning streak?published at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

England v New Zealand (14:30 GMT)

England are on a run of 14 wins in a row, but New Zealand are well practised at ruining the Red Roses' party.

The Black Ferns were the last team to beat England in July 2019.

In fact, New Zealand have won seven of their last eight meetings with England. The Red Roses have only lost four times in their last 49 Tests and three of those were against the Black Ferns.

We are in for a treat at Sandy Park today.
