That try was made by Natasha Hunt's read of the overthrow from the line-out, but you wouldn't normally think your tight-head prop will go 45m to finish the move.

Head coach Simon Middleton will want to see his bench make an instant impact and Sarah Bern has certainly just done that.

    Sarah Bern (con Helena Rowland)

    Unstoppable.

The replacement prop runs clear like a centre. She is popped the ball by Natasha Hunt just inside the Italy half and she palms off two blue shirts on her way to the line.

This time Helena Rowland adds the conversion.

Italy have absolutely no idea how to stop this big white machine that is continually rolling at them.

Another driving maul and another England try. This time it's replacement Vicky Fleetwood who applies the finishing touch.

    Helena Rowland misses the conversion.

Abbie Ward is over but she is adjudged to be held up. We'll come back for the penalty as Italy continue to walk a tightrope for their discipline.

You guessed it, the ball is kicked to touch.

Poppy Cleall probably doesn't get enough credit because she always makes her carries in tight hard-yard areas rather than in open space, so her carries are always big attritional carries.

Perhaps some cause for concern for England coach Simon Middleton now.

Poppy Cleall stay on the ground after being well tackled by Sara Tounesi.

The medical staff are on the field but she's back to her feet after her knee is given an extra layer of strapping.

    Italy 0-36 England

Italy's discipline is a cause for concern. They concede another needless penalty for a tackle off the ball.

It gives England another chance to kick for touch, where they have dominated the line-out.

  10. try

    Lydia Thompson

    Raw speed.

England pick up where they left off in the first half.

Helena Rowland finds Lydia Thompson, who does the rest out wide.

The winger breezes past Vittoria Ostuni Minuzzi like she wasn't even there. Far too easy.

    Rowland misses the conversion.

England are shining in the Parma sunshine, and the future looks pretty bright too.

Their final-round Six Nations showdown with France has sold out, more than a month in advance.

The game on 30 April at Bayonne's Stade Jean Dauger is likely to decide the Championship's outcome with England and France well clear of the other sides in the world rankings.

Stade Jean Dauger will be filled with 10,600 spectators for the match.

    Maggie Alphonsi

By England's standards it's not been their most clinical game. Yes, they have scored five tries and secured the bonus point but there have been missed opportunities: a couple of missed conversions and a line-out in the opposition 22 that was overthrown.

They'll look to smarten a few things up and have plenty more to do in the second half.

  15. Half-time - Italy 0-31 Englandpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 3 April 2022

It's been all England. Five tries to nil. Italy need a miracle if they are to turn it around from here.

A few minutes until half-time and five tries to the good, but England are showing no signs of a let off.

They surge forward again but Natasha Hunt is caught in possession and knocks on.

Alex Matthews is known for her carrying ability but what is so impressive is how low she gets. It makes it so difficult for Italy to defend.

  18. try

Converted Try - Italy 0-31 Englandpublished at 34 mins

    Alex Matthews (con Zoe Harrison)

    It was coming.

England claim the ball from the line-out and go through the motions as they shift it wide.

It comes back the other way and Alex Matthews crashes over for try number five.

    Zoe Harrison adds the conversion.

Another England penalty. Another Zoe Harrison kick to touch.

And with how much they are dominating from the line-out, why not?

    Italy brace themselves.

It's taken half an hour but the Italy fans finally have something to cheer.

Maria Magatti makes half a break on the wing before opposite number Lydia Thompson drags her down.

But Italy cannot retain possession and the ball is back in English hands.
