"Some of the girls have already said it wasn't our best game which shows how much there is still to come and everyone is fighting for the shirt. You can see what it means when the players keep putting their bodies on the line for each other.

"Our journey hasn't finished yet. There's something special happening but we can't rest on our laurels and still need to go that extra mile for the World Cup."

England's game against Ireland last week was really physical and they had fitness doubts but the way they stepped up to the mark was really impressive. They sharpened up a lot in the second half.

England captain Emily Scarratt: "It means so much every time we get to have a Grand Slam. Some players weren't in the squad for this match and this is for every person who has played during this Six Nations.

"In the first half we were in control but you never have it all your own way against a top team like France.

"Our forwards were phenomenal and got through so much work. There are things to look at but now we want to celebrate it because it's been a hard campaign."

That's a really nice touch as Sarah Hunter, who had to sit it out today with a rib injury, lifts the trophy in the middle of her team mates.

England conceded just four tries in the Six Nations - two of them were today. They had to dig deep at times in Bayonne but they kept their discipline.

England hooker Lark Davies on BBC Two: "I couldn't be prouder of what we've achieved. We've been working hard on the maul in training, it wasn't pretty but we got the points off the back of it.

"I've always got faith in the girls to get the result and become Grand Slam winners again."

Smiles all round in the England set-up in Bayonne, and rightly so. It's a fantastic achievement.

What a way to end the Six Nations! It was a big test to play in France in front of such a partisan crowd and they really pulled it back after a slow start. They can really build on this performance.

England are nearly there now, they have killed this off nicely in the last 10 minutes.

Basic error from France as they fail to find touch at the penalty, giving England the chance to clear with two minutes to go.

France get a penalty in England's half, but the impressive Laure Sansus looks to be struggling with a back injury so the game pauses while the scrum half gets back to her feet after treatment.

England look to have drawn the sting out of France - it's gone quiet in Bayonne.
