England's injured skipper Sarah Hunter is in Bayonne and chatting to BBC 2 at the moment - she's impressed with what she has seen so far.

England have gone to their set-piece whereas it's been hit and miss for France. France's error and penalty count has really hurt them - it could be a lot closer. France have been their own worst enemies because they've had the possession.

It's all a bit chaotic in the last few seconds of the half as France run a drop-out back at England until the ball is spilled, and Leanne Infante smashes a kick into the stands to end a see-saw first 40.

France's line-out is wildly inconsistent - they miss another chance to squeeze England when a throw goes loose on the 22 - compare and contrast with how England have scored from their line-outs at the other end.

That is huge for England, surviving seven or eight minutes of French pressure just before half-time.

Audrey Forlani at the front of the line-out takes it again to set up more relentless pressure from France, as Poppy Cleall continues, and at the fourth line-out in quick succession it goes loose at the back. Emily Scarratt hoofs it into touch near halfway.

France win a line-out five metres out and Laure Sansus wriggles almost to the line but is held up. England win a penalty to hit the pause button, but it looks like Poppy Cleall needs some treatment on the pitch.

That's much better from France as they pile pressure on England in the 22, with Laure Sansus' delicate chip to touch and then a sharp burst towards the line giving France hope.

It's hard to see France getting back into this at the moment, but you never know.

Lark Davies is penalised for holding on on the floor, giving France the chance to kick downfield and maybe spend time in England's half.
