  4. 'We started with a bang'published at 13:29 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

    FT: Australia 17-25 England

Speaking to Sky Sports, England centre Owen Farrell said: "It was a tough Test match. The way we started was outstanding, we thought we didn't throw a punch last week but we came here and started with a bang.

"We just wanted people to be themselves and free them up. We never really got going last week but we have an unbelievably exciting team and it's just about getting people going. I thought we did that from the off.

"We need to be smarter in that middle patch and not back up an error with an error. There are still lots of things we can tidy up but we will work on that even though we have won."

  5. 'It was a tough scrap'published at 13:20 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

    FT: Australia 17-25 England

Speaking to Sky Sports, England captain Courtney Lawes said: "It was a tough scrap but I'm proud of the boys. We stuck in and we knew they would come back at some point as they have some quality players but we got through.

"We have been working hard this week and getting to know each other and it paid of. We showed at the end that our defence can get us on the front foot but we let them score too easily and, at international level, you cannot really have that.

"Thanks to the (travelling) fans and we're glad we could put on a performance for everyone back home."

England came out of the blocks quickly and raced into a 19-0 lead, which ultimately proved too much for Australia.

The hosts bounced back in the second-half and it looked like momentum may have swung in their favour but the boot of Owen Farrell nudged the visitors out of reach.

Onto Sydney for the decider next weekend...

But it's turned over and Tom Wright dances his way into open space. He chips ahead as the stands erupt with noise.

Tommy Freeman gathers the ball but he is dragged out of play by Wright from his collar. The crowd enjoyed that one.
